Thanks for all the help i have got from some of you recently.

I am well underway with my first hack - it is mainly a character hack (no changes in sound or levels yet).

I have got to grips with SonMapED, and from what I understand, I could use it to edit more than just Sonic...

I would like to edit Robotnik, the title screen (Sonic title and sonic wagging his finger), and also the remaining life HUD. That is all.

My problem is the guides and advice I have found use just Sonic as an example. I have no idea, in SonMapED, how to load Robotnik as tiles, load the correct map, and correct pallette. Unfortunately they aren't named as simply as the Sonic ones were.

Has anyone successfully managed to figure out which maps go with which tile file and pallette etc? Or is there a better way of doing these things? I messed around with Fatilety, and found a robotnik character, but the pallette wasn't right, and i couldn't find a pallette/figure out what to do to get the right colours...

I don't really know, where Robotnik's stuff is stored, but I know the Title Screen:

    Title Screen Foreground Tiles: artnem\titlefor.bin

Sonic on the Title Screen: artnem\titleson.bin

    TM on Title Screen: artnem\titletm.bin

Title Screen Palette: pallet\title.bin (Note: There are 4 different palettes. If you want to change it, click Settings\Tile Rendering\Render Starting with Palette line X (X is the Number of your palette))

    Sonic Mappings: _maps\Obj0E.asm

Title Foreground Mappings: Various files. If you just want to edit something specific (like the © SEGA 1991) you can just select this piece, export it, edit it and import it again.

    Hope this helps.

    Robotnik's art varies;

    Just his main ship: artnem\bossmain.bin

    Other boss stuff: artnem\bossflame.bin

    artnem\bossxtra.bin

    artnem\fzboss.bin

    artnem\fzboss2.bin

    His mappings: Eggman.asm

    Eggman2.asm

    Robotnik's pallet is Sonic's and the first level pallet. (1st & 2nd)

    Hope this is helpful!

Just to quaote on what Zero said, he is right in the loactions of eggman, but if you want to edit them you need to open them fom artnem_u. Like i saidon the previous topic, you load from artnem_u then compressed the data using the sega date compressor. Then save the mappings once you have done.

Just search your folders. There are two sets of mappings for Eggman alone, then some for the boss, and then some more for the FZ boss. All maps can be found in the _Maps folder. Just load those up as you normally would.

I don't know about any dynamic cues for him though...

art for different boss stuff is in your artnem_u folder, animemaster has that already

Sonic from the title screen is Obj0E in the _maps folder

his tiles are in the artnem_u folder under titleson

Only Sonic is using PLCs. All the other objects are just having mappings - PLCs are not needed.

With the palette folder you'll need to split sonic 1 with a disassembly and you can find them here.
