Has anyone tried playing (or uploading) SMS or GG roms on hacktube? If no one has I'll try it.

EDIT: Rom type isn't supported is there anyway to change an SMS file to .bin?

Most Genesis emulators can't emulate SMS roms. Yeah, one may think it's weird, since the Genesis is basically a Master System in a wig. But there are more differencies than you can think. For one, they use a different VDP mode, not to mention the memory map is entirely different. Not even Kega, Gens+, and Regen, the only emulators (as of now) that can emulate both the Genesis and the Master System, do that with different routines, none of them can run an SMS game in Genesis mode.

If this isn't enough, even a real Genesis wouldn't support a Game Gear game. It might run, though the palette would be broken (the Game Gear has a much larger palette), and you wouldn't be able to proceed in the game since the Game Gear and the Master System have an entirely different way to use the start/pause button. You can test this by renaming a .GG rom to .SMS and open it in Kega.

All of this to say that the guy who made the Potato Emulator used in Hacktube had probably no reason at all to support SMS games.

Haha, it's just there's another java emulator that supports SMS :D I've been meaning to integrate it into hacktube.

That's good news. Does that mean under clean roms we will be most likely to see SMS or GG roms. I'll be happy to upload them on to hacktube.
