    Hi!

I am new in the community, and I am sharing a project of open source rom hacking .

I'm tired of ROMs hackings closed source.

Every time someone addresses a ROM Hack, need to "re-invent the wheel", which is a great loss of time, would be more useful if all cooperate.

Spoken like a true naive soul. :)

I like how figuring out how to implement your concepts into practice is considered "reinventing the wheel," by the way.

Also, your control scheme is horribly broken. Not bad, though!

Its less "re-inventing the wheel" and more like "learning to make your first wheel." You don't just turn up to wooden-cart-making-school and have wheels showered upon you like stink in a shithouse. You build a rickety wheel and refine it until you can bang one out in your sleep, then you can move on to th...

Thanks for your positive feedback in this thread.

Anyway, not bad, GHZ has waaaay too many springs though, less springs please. Also, too many broken chunks. MZ's layout is great, although I cannot find a way past act 1. MZ's palette could use some help (Hot trap also sounds like the name of a porn flick, please change that.)

Continue, you can make this a great hacking project.

Oh, the reason people keep their sources to themselves is so people don't steal code. I know, where are their "MORALS"? Well the truth is, the internet has none. So, if you want to add any special stuff to this hack then keep your source to yourself.

Actually, I don't release the source of my hack because I'm bad at asm and many of the routines I wrote are crap.

Give a man a fish, he'll ask you to cook it for him too. Keep the fish to yourself, and the lazy fuckers die of starvation and only the people with the common sense to work out how to catch, cook and eat the fish on their own survive.

An ancient chinese proverb. Or so I'm told.

Keep your chineese 'proverb' to yourself. K thnx.

I was merely explaining the truth, and the reason behind it.

First of all, what have you done since the last release? Screenies? Is there a plan for the hack? Details, I'm not going to download a hack with no screenies, or storyline, or anything for that matter. You may as well have said "here's a hack, DL it k thnx bye". Can you please provide some screenshots or something?

Oh, so you can take the time to write a post that long that goes on about tedious beaurocracy (screenshots go in the middle of the page along with a featur...blah blah blah) but you can't take the time to actually play the hack that someone has been kind enough to upload? On a sonic hacking forum? Instead of seeing any new features that might be present first hand, you want to take a quick look at all the good stuff from a screenshot? Pathetic. If you don't have the time to play the damn ROM, then you don't have time to write out a post to harrass some guy into jumping through a load of pointless hoops and 'etiquette.'

If I wanted to keep things to myself, I wouldn't have joined a FORUM.

PS. "You may as well have said "here's a hack, DL it k thnx bye"." - this is exactly how I'd want to present a hack, no pretention, no bombast, no making up for lack of substance with the prospect of "what is in store." Just a hack, speaking for itself.

I'm still curious as to why the word 'proverb' is in quote marks. But that's just me.

you know it would probably be a better idea for you to use a subversion style download if you are going open source anyway. Just use google code or something it will allow you to constantly update and people will only have to download the files that have been changed. it also allows people to upload their own changes to the code (if you allow that) and if you don't like any of the public changes you can simply revert to an older version.

Those aren't quotation marks. " and ' are completely different =P.

As for that hack. Can you at least post some screenies? Seriously? Pretty-please?

Err, you wasn't supposed to rip it. An open source project is that everyone works on it, instead of ripping.

The text kept on coming up as something else. I think it said unicode text can't be saved in a ANSI. Wait, then I had it right when I did it without the open source. The asm file wouldn't save it. Fuck. I did it right the first time, I looked at the font and it matches. Now why wouldn't it save? Its the same font and size.

Open source means no holds barred on what can be done with it. Welcome to the world of OSS.

If something is open source, you can make it your way.

Actually, open source merely means that the source code is available to the general public, its the licensing that goes with it that determines how the code may be used. For example, iirc GPL says that if you use GPL licensed opensource code you need to include the source code with your final product, whereas the BSD license says you can include the source if you want to. Don't take my word for it, thats just my understanding of how it all works.
