I guess I learned a lesson about using other hacker's work...

...Due to a cool idea I had, I decided to use the pallet file found in Nineko's Sonic 1 hack... temporarily. I replaced the Nineko file with my own ROM's pallet information for Scrap Brain, Act 2.

-First weird thing: I tested the ROM only to find the level with Nineko's orange pallet from Act 1.

-Second weird thing: My 'escape hatch' of re-copying the old, normal file did absolutely nothing. No matter how many builds, still the akward orange pallet...

-Third weird thing: My other ROMs in the folder were affected in the same way. These were re-named, documented versions of my hacking progress; now they're screwed up. I tried replacing all data with the words 'Scrap Brain' or 'sb' in the filename; no luck.

...I'm reaching the last straw with the problem, and know that there is something weird going on. My last resort is to attach the ROM to this post, in order for someone who can actually solve the problem (I'm probably going to screw up my work even more) to solve it for me. If someone actually does waste their time solving my hacking problems, then this will be the only time. I've done my share of trying to fix this, and my experience level, along with my shallow .asm knowledge prevents me from seeing what is wrong...

If anyone wants to help, just say the word, and I'll attach the ROM in my next post...

    *edit*

Never mind, I'll just attach it now. All I care is that things are set to their ORIGINAL colors in Scrap Brain, Act 2 and Act 3 (that one's screwed up too).

    *edit*

O...K... I can't upload those filetypes? ...But ... all that work is going to be lost if I start over... I'm going to be stubborn and keep trying new things on my own, but PLEASE! My work is not going down the drain...

Oh, sorry about that, but after some pain-in-the-butt work, I was able to move all my work to a newly split ROM after a few failed attempts... Scrap Brain does not kill the eyes when looked upon anymore...

...but now my problem is with the Labrynth Zone. I'll probably upload some screenshots before jumping to conclusions... it seems that the game loads up Sonic's pallete as if he's already underwater, and that when I actually go underwater, the game gets confused and can show nothing but black sprites...

...Most likely there's something weird with one of my files, or one of the .asm pallet-loading subroutines has a minor error...
