Sonic 1: WTF Lame

    By Sonic 65 and GerbilSoft

This is a hack of Sonic 1, created by me and GerbilSoft. Though there are a few other features involved, the main focus of the hack is around a new monitor; the Wetflame Monitor. :(

When you hit this monitor, prepare for shenanigans and randomly selected tl;dr posts from Wetflame himself! (There are over 30 different ones implemented!)

    Changelog

    - Revision 3: Fixes some screen bugs involved with water levels, and LZ2 is now completable

    - Revision 2: Fixes the broken random tl;dr selection in Revision 1

    - Revision 1: Fixes some text formatting bugs and sound glitches

    - Revision 0: Original version

You continue to impress me. Very good. My only problem is that the text goes way too fast. I can't read it all! Thank goodness I'm not involved in it lol

    I have a suggestion.

Add the Dramatrix aka the Intercommunity Zone.

Even though I don't like the subject of this, the intro screens are surprisingly well done and the idea of monitors displaying text surprise me really. Why not use this in a help zone as some kind of game manual?

(note: this coment was meant seriously and I'd really love to see this kind of feature implemented somewhere, PM'd)

What Oerg said. Also the source may be useful for people wanting to make their own customized screens, so thanks for that at least :)

I haven't read a single word of that walls of text, appearing when breaking this monitor. I was so OMGWTF'd of the ASM, that I had no time to read it. Great work! *thumps up*

The entire point of this thread is just a blow at me. But then again you liked x64's flash so whatever...

I understand that was probably the intention but I strongly doubt anyone dislikes you suddenly because of that ROM, it's just Sonic 65 being Sonic 65. I would take it with a large grain of salt. Besides it's nowhere near as personal as it could have been.

That's not really the point. If Sonic 65 had actually argued his point well, I wouldn't mind. But he slimed out of the argument and comes back to post this.

Ah, don't take it too seriously. It's clearly just meant for lulz, after all.

Anyway, good job you two. My favorite part's the TSSZ Splash Screen. I laughed.

Hey, let's just calm down. I just mean that it was probably meant for lulz. I didn't mean anything by it. Sorry, Ivy.

I just mean lulz for everyone, not in the mean-spirited way. Now, if I'm missing something, again, I'm sorry.

I'm just under the impression that it wasn't made for mean-spirited purposes.

    I don't dislike you.

Hey, Ivy, I don't dislike you at all, I only like the technical aspect of this ROM, as I already stated, dammit.

Actually, this hack idea was conceived on July 11th by Gerbil, before I even got involved in those Intercommunity Zone topics. So it really has nothing to do with me not being able to comeback your points or whatever.

    Code:
[22:47] <+GerbilSoft> idea for a new monitor in a sonic hack

    [22:47] <+GerbilSoft> a wetflame monitor

[22:47] <+GerbilSoft> hitting it makes the screen fill up with text

[22:47] <Devann> ...and the point of it is

    [22:47] <+GerbilSoft> there isn't any :)

Basically, Gerbil suggested the idea in #retro, development started in #techies (with Gerbil asking questions and posting his status; hell, I can give you logs of the entire development process of this hack if you want), and at some point I offered to help so the hack could get done faster. We figured that we could do something technically impressive in a hack as well as make a light-hearted joke about those posts at the same time (and I'm sorry if you found it offensive).

Actually, I found it rather humorous and light-hearted in its nature, though I have no doubts that there was hopes in getting a reaction out of Wetflame. That being said I would find it awesome to be the subject of a hack, why the hell not? :) While I know I seem "SERIOUS BUSINESS"* I can also point and laugh at stuff like this.

    * For the record the Internet is serious business to me since I'm dishing out the money to keep the RSN server going, it ain't cheap.

EDIT: Forgot to list my only complaint, the text scrolls to fast, though I guess you guys never really intended for us to actually read through them, and I suppose the benny hill music solidifies that point.

Sonic 65 is making one, called Dustin Wyatt's epic adventure, it's been in development in some time.

Yes, because I'm happy to laugh at myself. I also helped write it, even the parts that mock me.

I really don't think you should take such personal offense to what is essentially, very lighthearted silliness.

I released a new bugfix release, Revision 1. It fixes some sound bugs and text formatting bugs. The links on the first post will automatically redirect to the Revision 1 files.

EDIT: Revision 2 release. I accidentally broke random selection in Revision 1. :)
