Also, might be a good idea to add a rate counter, just like in YouTube.

Righty so, for those of you who are unaware, Me and Selbi are now the current moderators of HackTube, we've currently gone through ALL hacks on HT and have moved them to the appropriate places, a lot of them have been deleted, some have been moved to beginners section and vis versa, if you're not happy with these decisions, then it's tough, unless you have a valid reason why we should revert.

If anyone has any queries or issues to do with HT, for example if a hack has been uploaded which shouldn't have (Leaked, stolen code, etc), then PM me or Selbi privately and we'll sort it out ASAP.

    Any questions?

Something that should've been done a long time ago. ;)

Also, shouldn't SonicVaan be demoted since he has no interest in moderating any more?

Markey and I have been discussing about things for Hacktube. Besides a new emulator, we came to those results:

    1. New Hacktube moderator powers:

    • 1.1. Changing hack names
    • 1.2. Editing the description
    • 1.3. Delete comments
    • 1.4. Changing the author

    2. Hacktube things in general:

    • 2.1. New hack categories:
      - Advanced hacks
      - 2-Minutes hacks (while this one seems more important for us)
    • 2.2. Validation system for new hacks
    • 2.3. Fix "Reason for delete" not showed bug (it's not being showed, even after typing in a reason)

    3. Requirements for the uploader:

    • 3.1. Only members can upload
    • 3.2. At least 1 post

This list will be extended, if there is more stuff.

I tried out hacktube today for the first time. I always thought it was terribly pointless, because I already possess all of these ROMs and I can play them in the lag free comfort of my superior emulator, in the comfort of not-a-browser. Redundancy aside though, it does look nice and things.

    -HOWEVER-

You can't change the controls? What the hell? That is completely unnacceptable! Not only that, the controls are inverted! My d-pad hand is on the buttons, and my button hands are on the d-pad. There are still people that use the arrow keys instead of WASD? I can't even begin to contemplate the sheer horror of it all!

There's no need for such a hack if this is the "super-shit" category. They would be better being deleted. If you want to show Hacktube as a way to show off decent hacks, you might as well have an approval system.

What would also help is a reporting system. This would involve inputting a reason as to why with an explanation (ie: Stolen Content - taken from game x) and it would be PM'd back to the moderators for immediate action. Also, I recommend a method that would make abusive uploaders be banned from uploading content, this could be temporary or permanent, depending on the circumstances. Stolen content should be an outright ban.

Finally, there are some clean roms that could be uploaded, most of them from the 8-bit side (excluding GG>SMS ports).

No no, this category is for quick lolz hacks, like Markey's recently released Sonic 1 Flying Cap Edition or Sonic 1 WTF LAME. Things like that. Maybe we should think of another name so such confusements like this are not gonna happen again.

Btw, agreed with your other points.

You could use the old fashioned reporting system of speaking to MJ or Selbi. They're both more efficient than any automated flaggin system.

How many of you would be interested in a weekly hacking challenge, like say, every Saturday at a certain time, you have 1 hour to create a "2-minute hack". Me and MarkeyJester discussed the idea and I think it could be a nice addition to the site, and as an added bonus people could go back and look at each weeks entries. Of course I need to know how many would be able to do that on a weekly basis.

The boom crew have had a few 1 hour boss competitions of a similar ilk and I know plenty of people who like to throw together quick and shit hacks for jokes. The trouble is, its often a spontaneous coming together. It doesn't work quite as well when its premeditated. We've tried to have a follow up comp a few times, but they fall through a lot. People have lives and shit, y'know, it doesn't always work. Especially if its weekly, I doubt you'd pull in the numbers you would if it was a monthly effort. Its not really a comp if its 2 people. Its a very nice idea though.

While we're on the topic -

Anyone remember Sonic Pubes? I made that in 20 minutes, and I posted it to retrohack once. If anyone still has it, I'd love to play it again. I've since formatted and the entire site got nuked. It had this awesome farting move.

People in Exile are able to comment on hacks, Darkon is using the comments system to post hacks.

I thought the entire system was getting sorted out? Back to square one?

I did wonder that my self, but the last time I spoke with QJim, I think he was working on getting HT fixed, so I guess we'll have to wait til an announcement of some sort appears.
