Hi there, I was wondering if anybody knows of a ASM68K version of the s2 dissasembely or someway to convert the current one to ASM68k.... becasue for some reason the normal version just dosnt play nice with me. It seems that every time I follow a guide or try my hand at hacking with this it either dosnt build or it builds fine but dosnt do as I expect in game. It is really starting to get to me because I feel my hack would be much more suited to S2 but as it is at the moment I just dont seem able to progress with it.

The only version of the Sonic 2 Disassembly is the AS version, which really sucks for me too. However, it has the great advantage of temporary labels (+ and -) as well as a couple of other great features I can't think off at the moment.

But yeah, if you want to hack Sonic 2, you are forced to use that disassembly.

Damn you AS, the things I dislike about AS, is firstly.. when building, it prints a whole load of useless shit messages in the CMD (yeah, just prints a fuck load of messages), and it looks as messy as hell, this is the sort of messiness that makes you feel like your project isn't worth shit, as a result, the hack ends up being worked on less. Secondly it takes forever to assemble, being sonic 2 and being larger, OK, I can understand that to a degree, but still. And finally, the one that REALLY pisses me off, is the extensive use of macros' and if factors placed all over the fucking place, but it's not even that, it's that it looks so fucking messy and confuses the fuck out of ya, things CAN be made to look more organised, but programmers will insist in not bothering (That's just my argumentitive approach though =P).

Now there's nothing stopping you from using another assembler such as ASM68K, but you'll need to find an assembler for the Z80, change the batch in a heap load of ways, and change/remove all the macros' and if factors, etc.

    Yeah, it's not recommended.

So to convert it to asm68k is a tall order eh? ok it looks like I need to brush up on my skills with S2 and AS - I will download a fresh s2 dissasembely and start over then perhaps I might be able to catch where I am going wrong.

AS is cool because it's cross-platform you know. =P

There does need to be some sort of "standard" with the disassemblies and I think Quickman talked about it on Retro once regarding preferred assemblers.
