    Actually we have an IRC, but there was a screwup on my part setting the wrong mode so only registered users can message. SHM still needs to come there, but probably didn't come previously due to the lack of an IRC client on his system and the wrong mode set. SHM, there's a mibbit widget set up. Check http://theocas.net/about for the link. It'd be nice if those posts where we use this thread as IM would be trashed, as they simply make the thread too long.

    I really felt the urge to (slightly) bump this topic, as we got significant progress. We have a hub-world which allows you to save your games, delete them and get details. Options menu is also ported, and also loads of art. I'm gonna keep most of this a secret until the Hacking Contest, but here's a quick screenshot to get you guys guessing...

    I don't think it's really bumping the topic if we have something to show. There are topics on retro that sit there for months without updates, then out of nowhere they get updates when we least expect them. I think we're okay.

    UPDATE: Since Moon aka Joseph's mom is a bitch, he can't get on IRC anymore, meaning we're one team member short now. Anybody who would like to join, and is good with ASM, is welcome to talk to us at the IRC.


    (I am not trying to advertise, i'm trying to get this hack back on track.)

    OK, BIGGGG update. Lots of art has been added, and some more level layout. I still need to fix that gay SRAM bug that causes Line 1111 emulator exceptions as I load empty slots. Look at it, love it:

    Yes, that's a complete import of the Palmtree Panic Past Background with Pallet Cycles. But no deformation just yet. I made the background just scroll on the X axis and stay on the Y axis for now. All I really wanted was the moving clouds, as those worked amazingly well out of the box.


    EDIT: SRAM bug should be fixed now.

    So now I'd suggest you to remove the HUD and the lives counter since they're pretty useless there. =P

    That's pretty neat! But hasn't it been used somewhere? Sorry if I'm wrong. =S

    Yes, the HUD has been removed from the Hub. It shows up once you exited it. Also, I don't think that BG was ever used before.

    The BG has been used several times before. I'm pretty sure of it...


    You should mix in some other art in your BG, so it doesn't look exactly like the Sonic CD original PPZ (Past) art.

    Yes, I'll take that into consideration. I kinda like the BG the way it is, but I might add a palm there and an waterfall there. Thanks for all the positive feedback so far peeps!

    Now that I think about it, that background does kind of look like Sonic 2 Retro Remix's cascade valley...

    It seems you're a little worried about the BG being used by someone else? Try to understand from this point of view...


    If you want to port a design from one game into another, no one will stop you, and it's not frown upon or anything either, so don't be discouraged when you hear many people mention it including myself, we've seen the whole 700 miles of possibilities and have seen a load of brand new unique ideas we thought never would have been possible, it's more just to point you into a unique direction with something more fresh that we haven't witness before, not to put you off making ports, and certainly not to "fource" you to take a different direction.

    if you fix Final Zone, and put S/K music in it as opposed to S3 for title, invincibility, 1up, I'd love this hack! I always wanted to have a hack where you could really hear out Angel Island zone, and have spin dash in S1: Sonic 1 remastered had a piss poor spindash. I also think the file select is kinda confusing

    It's most of been taken care of - Final Zone should work, what does it do? As for having S&K Tracks - they do not come with the sound driver, and no one is willing to get off of their lazy asses and rip them. We're fine with what we have. Since Moon is not going to the Scene anymore (Sad story, but private as well) I opened a New Thread on Retro where most updates will take place from now on.

    I downloaded 1.21, and final zone still requires that I activate debug to get to the boss, and then not die as Robotnik goes away. Also, you can find rips of of S/K music on Sonic Retro.

    Ok, got some bugs for ya that you may or may not know.

    As soon as I used super peelout on that options thing on the first level, I was launched by the camera to the right so far that I couldn't see sonic, and then he died.

    This is an obvious one which I expect you would of fixed, but just incase you haven't.

    Pretty much the same as before, I saw a platform, jump dashed to the left and lunached right again. Some people would say this is a good thing on act 2 because it pretty much takes you to the end. I would fix the water too, but you may know that aswell.
