I'll change the art at a later time. As far as the lettering goes, I'll let vlad take a look at it. I'm barely concerned about it at this point, I'm more concerned about getting all the features I want working... working. As of right now, there is still a large ass list of stuff that need fixing in the main game, or stuff to actually implement.

    Build-A-Burger, Sonic 2 Version v.3.1

After many weeks of working on this, here is the next release. Quite a bit of progress has been made, here's a list.

    Additions:

    - S2B4 Special Stages. None can be beat. Due note, once you leave the Special Stage, it will crash.

    - Main Menu is now fixed. All the options do the same thing as last build, but now the menu doesn't have random letters lying around

    - The 80 object limit has now been resolved. What does that mean visually? Nothing much. What does that mean for game play? Not much. What it does mean is that now I have the ability to add in objects with little problems. AKA, I can now add in all the objects without the use of level conditions due to the "Remember Sprite Flag" Also, if there is a ring, that means it's supposed to be an object later on down the road. It's not just there for the lolz.

    - Casino Night Zone now has flipping tiles for both art versions. Thanks to SonicBoom for creating the tiles for Beta CNZ.

    - EHZ, CPZ, and DHZ(MCZ) now have bosses. The only issue is that the special collision for the boss doesn't work, so the technique of simply bouncing on Eggman will not work in this build. Also, DHZ is the only zone where the bosses can't be defeated. For whatever reason, Eggman takes unlimited hits, working on the solution.

    - Room sizes are dependent on what object layout you chose. With that said, if the zone has a boss, and you want to fight said boss, you'll need to choose the S2F mark. Bear in mind, if you decide to fight the boss with S2B layout, some parts of the boss arena may not even exist in the S2B layout. (CPZ Boss. Have fun  ;)  )

    Known Bugs:

    - Sonic 2 Beta Sound Driver sounds funny, like it's missing something......It's missing a drum.

    - There are a few chunks messed up in Hill Top Zone.

    - Metropolis' level looping. Still working on it.

    - DHZ boss. Try beating it.

    - Sonic 2 Options menu not working properly. That in itself is just because I haven't ported in Tails from S2F. Be patient.

    - Whatever bugs that were in S2.

    Have fun.

No. There really isn't all that much to show in a video. All it is mix matching parts from S2B, S2B4, and S2F. If you want to know what your getting, read the information I post.

    No. Two reasons
    1. I'm only using what's available in all the Sonic 2 builds. If it doesn't exist, it won't be there. There are few exception, but it is only if I need to add art to an already pre-existing level. Simply put, I'm not making art that doesn't exist at all.

    2. This isn't Sonic 2 Delta. This hack may have SLIGHT (and I use that term loosely) similarities, but I've decided to take it a step further. Genocide City doesn't exist in any builds that we currently have. There isn't even any evidence that it existed minus concept art and the name of the level itself. I've checked all the leftovers, there's nothing. Genocide City in Delta is barely even imaginative. I love Esrael's hack, but there's nothing worth noting about Genocide City, and no way in hell am I copying his idea. If you want to play Genocide City, play Sonic 2 Delta, because you will not find it here.

I guess I should do more than skim the first post. I don't know much about development builds of the Sonic games , however I am going to go read the first post in this thread now.

Indeed. To be honest, I've updated this thing twice, I think, maybe three times. Each time is something new, so just be on the lookout for my giant change list.

It's all good. I just wanted you to know that I'm not recreating something that definitely has no proof it ever existed.

Whoops sorry for double posting....not really. Anywho

This build fixes a few issues that I've noticed in the last build.

    - CNZ2 Beta is now compatible with the S2F object layout. You're welcome btw.

    - The slot machines now work. It seems that in S2B4, there really wasn't anything to give....

         a. because the object wasn't coded to do so.

         b. In S2F, the object actually loads different objects toward Sonic. In S2B4, they don't exist, thus why there are no rewards.

All in all, this object uses it's final counterpart.

    - The boss for CNZ now loads. Unfortunately, you can't defeat it. Sorry.

    - Adjusted a few minor menu issues. The menu still does the exact same thing.

    - You can beat the first special stage. Bear in mind, it still crashes when you exit it, so it's not anything to celebrate.

    - The bosses that you can beat now have explosions.

Would you look at the time, it seems I have a major update already =P

In the two days since I released the last build, I've been busy working. Some shit have not gone the way I like, but oh well. The stuff that has though...it will blow all of your fucking minds.....

Changes from last build? List time....

    - Added a whole new sub menu. Game Options. What does that do?

       1. Title Screen - Choose which Title Screen you want. You can choose either Sonic 2 Beta or Sonic 2 Final

       2. Level Select Mode - In this mode, you can choose which level select screen you want. If you prefer the S2B version with the see clear background, or the final version. Bear in mind, none are modified to be able for you to choose a level that is in the either. If you want say...Wings Fortress Zone, you'd have to use the S2F mode, sorry.

       3. Game Mode- It does the same thing as before, minus the Title Screen change. Warning, if you do decide to do Sonic 1 mode and go to level select, you can't play any level past OOZ, it'll crash.

    - New to this build, now all the options work in the Level Options sub menu. I will warn some of you, not all the art will fit with it's final layout, or vice versa. It isn't because something isn't loading, it is because the art does change between builds, so alas some chunks may not exist in the beta art, or be different in the final art. You have been warned.

    - Now there is a Sonic 2 Final Object layout option. Contrary to popular belief, there are a few differences between the S2B4 and S2F object layout.

    - Few minor bug fixes.

       1. Invincibility music now ends as opposed to going on forever.

       2. Fixed some objects to work like their final counterparts.

    Here's some screens:

To answer your question, why yes. Yes I am.

Here's a quick list of stuff that's been fixed since the screenshots

    - OOZ with S2B4 or S2F object layout no longer crashes randomly. It all had to do with the oil leak sprites that go on the slides. The art isn't fixed, but I don't give a fuck, it works.

    - WFZ now has some objects. You will need debug mode to play it though, sorry.

    Have fun.

alrighty. You know, I like the idea for a sonic 3 and Knuckles mode. It'd be cool to have the bubble/fire/water shields in Sonic 2. I know it already was available in S2: S3 edition, but I'd rather see them in sonic 2 without the other sonic 3 items, excluding the instashield.

Ok, updated build release time. Now where at build 4.03 Well, you folks know how the drill works, list time!

    - Biggest update. Tails is now exactly the same as S2F. I've decided to cut the bullshit and just straight port his object straight from the final. Bear in mind, this was more for my convenience, since the beta version would crash some objects like.....

    - Now with Title Cards straight from S2B4. I grew tired of the old Sonic 1 title cards, so I just placed them over. Due note, the S1 title cards will not be in place in Sonic 1 mode in future builds, this was once again for convenience for me.

    - Another important thing I've added, Title Screen options. What is that? You know the little menu you see at the title screen to choose 1 player, 2 player, and Options? Well, now I've made it to where you can choose if you want your title screen to have it. Due note, none of the options work in the S2B Title Screen. Working on it.

    - Another new options in Level Options. What is it this time you ask? Ring layouts. Not that impressive, I know, but still, there are a few minor difference in the layouts.

    - Also same with the Level Complete text along with continues. I strongly, and I mean this with the utmost urgency, do not try to use continues. Since I haven't exactly finished adding in the continue screen, the game will loop forever if you die with a continue. So please, don't try.

    - Now the Special Stage doesn't crash in your face anymore once you finish it. It seems I'm an idiot and didn't check to see where the PLC was loading from. It seemed that it was loading from a NONEXISTENT PLC address, so it kinda crashed. Fixed now.

    - Metropolis is now fixed as well. Once again, PLC issue.

    - If you hold "A" once you start a new game with the S2B Title Screen, the game will temporarily break, and once you get out of the error codes, it will play normally. Working on that, it happens like 50% of the time, so if you never get it, good for you.

    - S2 Options menu know has the Sonic/Tails background. It's kinda derpy, but it works.

    - Still no PSG on the S2B Sound Driver. Vlad is working on it.

looking good... I noticed a few bugs - they are small and should be easily fixable... the most anoying one so far is I cant seem to be able to spindash next to a monitor and break it - I had the same thing happen in my s1 redemption hack but fixed using a guide at sonic retro, secondly the title cards seemed a little glitchy... usally after using 2 player mode and doing a pause then pressing A to restart... however as I said this hack rocks I freakin love it needs more spindash dust lol

I'm pretty sure you know about this bug since it was in s2 beta normal, but I might as well point it out. CPU Tails' routines when he gets hit, as in if he is invincible like having a shield or loses rings, is defaulted to lose rings, but I don't think that is a good idea because if you have no rings and tails gets ahead of you, you could get killed. Hence why I think the CPU No damage routine should be set to shield settings, but that's just me.
