I just tried the hack and apart from the rings sounding more "tinny" and the seemly higher tempo, occasionally faster-paced title screen music I couldn't tell any difference in the music of the pre-updated link.  In terms of the update though, I like the distortion effect GHZ's bass seems to have, the results jingle seemed relaxingly mellow, and the Chaos Emerald jingle made me momentarily chuckle.

Updated Mini hack white sonic in sonic 1. once again more then just a palette edit.
this time some of sonic's animations have been sped up and sonic now has a higher jump height.
so the last time the "S" monitors made you go really fast. now this time the "S" monitor should make you go even more faster.

the main reason i why decided to update this mini hack is because i had missed out some ideas that i could have put in the original release of White sonic in sonic 1 (mini hack)

Edit: Link removed as i decided to delete the update version and keep the outdated version as it was less buggyglitchy !

Here's the analysis from my play-test of this release; please note, the following were comments I made to Josh on Skype, and he has since responded to them there:

Sarah McKinney (KosmoF): Oh man... they are are going to chew you out on quite a few things.

First, and foremost, the S-monitors are FUCKING with the level maps (don't know whether that was a pun or not) and causing severe problems with collision detection.

Second... as much of a kleptomaniac I am in Sonic games, and thus don't mind the perpetual 300 rings given to Sonic, there are loads of folks who are against the idea, and would rather feel like they're being rewarded for collecting and keeping onto their rings.

Third, when White Sonic is in idle mode is he suddenly developing Parkinson's disease, or having a seizure when balancing on a ledge? How much chaos energy/caffine/sugar... whatever... is in those rings?

Finally, did you disable the special zones?

Overall though, apart from the above gripes showing that more attention is needed here and there, it is at least playable (providing you avoid the S-monitors); whether or not it will hold folks' interest... well, that's down to personal preference.

I tested it in Regen, it crashes every time sonic jumps or is in the air, wait he has to be by a waterfall when the sound is playing too. This is the RAM address that causes the error, $FFFFD189. I don't need to play it anymore though since I get the main idea, its ok for a mini hack. I second what Kosmof basically said, it will be enjoyable to only certain people.

i will look in to that error and try to fix it so this mini hack is playable in regen. also as i was trying to change sonic's jump height i did mess around with other parts of that code as i was trying to find the part that is the jump height value so that might causing the error in regen. so yeah thanks for pointing that out

Just as an FYI, bug-fix hacks are a very common pursuit, especially among newcomers, and have been done many times. Unless your hack contains new bug-fixes that haven't been pulled from guides (in which case, said fixes would be better off made into guides instead of a closed source hack), then you're better off not wasting your time on it.

You're just wanting someone to screen wrap ain't you?, anyways some of the stages now seem impassible after the S Box is hit. Also, those s tubes

So, whenever Sonic gets hurt, he breaks the laws of physics and then you're forced to die once he reaches the top of the screen? Doesn't sound very fair, and in my opinion, I don't find it very funny. Sorry.

(I apologize if it sounds harsh)

What exactly is the point of this? You might as well remove rings, because as soon as you get hurt you either die by hitting the level's top boundary or get stuck in a ceiling. Sorry, but I need agree with TheRoboticOverlord here.

Not even more than 30 seconds of trying this out for myself and I already find this not funny as you say for it to be. Even if it is a mini hack, If all thats going to happen when you get hit is die anyway from floating and touching the top boundary, then there is really no point in playing this as TheRoboticOverlord Stated. Sorry but that's just my honest thought's for this.

That is so wrong. So catchy, but so wrong. But then again it's really hard to mash up a song with something done on an 8- or 16-bit piece of hardware. Sometimes it's good but it's usually just noise.

Im sorry. but i also agree with what the people above are saying. you may find this funny but really its just unfair not to mention that its a dick move to make sonic fly upwards when hurt that's just forcing you to die or get stuck on ceilings.

This hack is just unfair. You get hit by something and you die or get stuck in the ceiling, forcing you to wait for a "time over" or reset.

Well, aside from Richter in Sonic 1: A Gate Between Worlds (RIS1:AGBW for short), I started on a mini-hack Myself (If you can call it that)

    http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2jbuaf_sonic-2-in-sonic-1_videogames

Sonic 2 in Sonic 1, Basically is, what the title says.
what i have planned is porting over...
    title menu (currently Working on),
    music (currently Working on),
    Tails (currently Working on),
the big Sonic & Tails object, level select & options

(At least this way i get some porting practice in)

EDIT: already ported Supersonic & Spindash
