Meh, another topic without details about hack and download link... Please, don't do this next time! About the trailer - I like GHZ palette. The rest is meh for me, but probably this is your first hack, so can't wait for the relase.

He doesn't have to give you a download link, its not ready yet. He's just letting you know what's coming, and I think the trailer explains for itself. He's done nothing wrong here.

Except for the palettes, they don't look great, but otherwise, it doesn't look half bad. May give this a go when the contest starts.

    Hmm... Sorry about that LordXernon...

Anyway, Sonic 1 MickBae Edition is a hack me and my cousin (nighteyes) have been working on for around about half a year now. MickBae is a mix of our actual names (Mick and Baelee)

New Content - New Zones, New Palettes, New Level Layouts, New Music and other stuff I've forgot about

Story - After the events of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic lands back on Mobius. But because of his extended use of Super Sonic, he has lost his abilities. The Tornado lands on a unknown area so Sonic goes and explores. He comes across a whole lot of badniks and thinks straight away that Eggman had crashed there. Eggman, who barely made it, set up shop in an abandoned factory and made his ROBOTIC EMPIRE. Sonic, on the other side of Chaos Island, needs to make it through the six zones to destroy the Chaos Extraction Engine (CEE) in the abandoned factory before it sucks the life out of Chaos Island!

    Zones:

PALMTREE OASIS - Welcome to the tropical island where palmtrees are everywhere! Speed through the scenery, destroying badniks but don't land on spikes! (It won't end well...)

NIGHTMARE CITY - Rolling around the city has never been more wild as spiked balls get tossed around by seesaws and loops spin your head like a record!

HIGH TIDE - The cave is only going down while the tide is rising as you battle for your life under the water! Enjoy the Jaws and the Burrobots that block your way to the goal post!

MAGMA FALLS - Jump from platform to platform avoiding lava and go underground for a rush through the ruins of the old rock mine.

PARTY PALACE - The party is on you as you dash through the purple casino, defeating the bad guys and getting pinged around by the bumpers like a pinball machine!

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - You've reached Eggman's lair. Pound his malicious machinery as you face him in the battle of your life!

Download Link - There is none. Wait until SHC2015!

While the palettes do look awful, those level designs definitely look interesting. Should be a fun play.

I guess some of the palettes are eye-rapish, but I don't think they're that bad!

If anyone has any suggestions on new palettes, please post. I want this to be as good as it can be!

P.S. Good enough for a 12 year old, eh?

For a 12 year old, you are doing good job! What are you using to do that?

For 12 years old - this is masterpiece compared to my first hack from 2010. I've got a wierd feeling this is gonna be a very good hack, if you change palettes and tiles. I'm waiting for a relase.

Like most have said already, the pallets are not exactly the best, but the level layouts however are pretty good. for a 12 year old, this actually doesn't look all that bad. may consider giving this a try for myself when ever you release this.

I dunno, the trailer doesn't give me enough to work with. If anything, the sped-up footage gives me the impression they were trying to edit out the monotony of some sections. Particularlry, the SLZ one. Also, the footage of an unmodified SBZ3 doesn't exactly raise my expectations.

Too bad the editing meant I couldn't get a good look at the MZ boss. Those few frames only bring back horrible, horrible memories of people that thought fireball spam was a good idea. Actually, the footage of all the bosses is worrying: The GHZ boss over what I assume is a bottomless pit? SLZ and SYZ bosses with added spikeball chains? Colour me terrified of these bosses, for the wrong reasons.

E.S.E and E.S.E 2. For putting the music in I have been using Hivebrain's 2005 AS Disassembly. Still a noob with disassemblies...

By tiles you mean art? If yes than it probably won't happen any time soon...

And the only palettes that I think are bad are Robotic Empire 2 & 3. If any of you could answer my question, it would make my day!

Oh yeah, you don't know the music yet! Music from nineko's 7, 29 and s1neko packs and Pokepunch's Marble Garden Act 1.

    IT WILL CHANGE!!

PALMTREE OASIS - Splash Hill Act 1 (Sonic 4 Ep 1)

MAGMA FALLS - Marble Garden Act 1 (Thanks Pokepunch!)

PARTY PALACE - DDR - Hero (This version over original ANYTIME)

HIGH TIDE - Sky High Zone (This is awesome and suits a water zone anyday)

NIGHTMARE CITY - City Escape Act 1 (SA2)

ROBOTIC EMPIRE - DDR - Dam Dariam

TITLE SCREEN AND ENDING - Labyrinth - Madou Monogatari

SPECIAL STAGE - Puzzle De Pon! Stage 2

    INVINCIBILITY - Magical Sound Shower

BOSS - Sonic 2 MS Boss Theme

FINAL BOSS - Jewel Master - Chaos Dragon

    and others I forgot.

Boss vid for you guys (Hope this clears your concerns Clownacy!)

ESE and ESE 2 are not the modern programms. But for a ESE-Hack it looks cool.

The palette's are kinda bad, that orange is too strong in SBZ. The SLZ palette is too dark. And where are the Backgrounds for the bosses besides the final boss?. But ey for someone so young it isn't too bad.

For a 12 year old, this looks like crap.

Your age doesn't matter. Several sceners have produced far better quality than this at age 12 and 13. Don't use your age as a get out of jail free card - it only makes you look more pitiful.

Fixed, fixed and not sure how to fix.

Okay, you got me. I'm not the best out there. I started late last year. BUT IT WILL GET BETTER AS I LEARN MORE! Isn't that how most Sonic hackers start out?

Those people probably started at a much younger age.

I'm sorry to anyone else here who thinks differently But im gonna have to go with him on this one. While I can understand that this is criticism, I think some of the others here asking a bit much which is one part of this place that I could never understand even now. he doesn't call himself an amateur for no reason. he's still young and have much to learn like most of us at one point had to, yet most of this place always expect some high grade Shit out of every member that joins here and then want to have the nerve to say something that would potentially discourage them. and so what if there where others that were around his age that did better than him. not everyone here have some holy gift of hacking like were royalty or something. if anything that's gotten pitiful over the years is this place[or at least most or everyone in it]. how we ever gonna grow as a community like this if we keep scaring everyone off? just because most of the others here may be more skilled doesn't mean everyone else is. Pretty sure the others that's gonna see is gonna miss the point entirely. either that or just skim through without actually reading the whole post like I usually see most of the time, but who am I to say. to the creator of this hack, don't let anyone else get in the way and do what you gotta do man to make it presentable and well made the best you can. best of luck to you. I'm sorry to everyone else for this small rant but I couldn't just stand by.

Asking a bit much?! This is a thread with nothing but a trailer in it. Sounds like a first-impressions feedback thread, to me. What's bad about 'colour better', 'use a modern, more capable and easy-to-use tool', and 'where the hell's the background gone'? This thing's going to be an entry in the Hacking Contest! I- I don't even know what to say. He's up against all sorts of competition, and you think we shouldn't at least tell him how to improve if he even wants to stand a chance? It's one thing to state your age and experience, but you're throwing yourself into a ring where none of that matters, where no attempt is made to equalise the odds.

Is going as far as to call this a masterpiece really going to make things better? It's got flaws. Anyone with eyes can see the palette problems, even 12 year olds. We're not gonna ignore it, but that's not out of malice!

We don't expect 'high grade shit'; we encourage rising to it. If you're not gonna make an attempt, then, damn right, you'll get chased out. But who here was offended that a newcomer posted their work? Who here said 'you shouldn't have posted this'? amphobius' stinger was only there to counteract the excessive praise. Put it into words better than I could, at least. Yeah, we were all inexperienced, but we got better, one way or another. So, no matter what your age, we know for a fact that you can improve.

And the cockiness didn't help matters. That will only lead to more trouble.
