I exported the chaos emerald sprites that appear on the special stage results screen and edited them to look like the sonic 2 emeralds (using the sonic 1 palettes) 2015-10-25 16_10_13-New folder (2).png  when I imported them back in I got this  hhh.png   the yellow emerald seems fine though but all the others are screwed up

You've made several topics on the same subject, please only make 1 topic per subject.  You most also refrain from double/triple posting.

I think the forum accidentally repeated the thread, its not the first time its happened. That is my theory. Also to answer your question Shinymeowth, you need to make sure the image you are important has the exact same indexed palette you are importing to. If you don't know what I mean by indexed palettes, I.E. 0,32,64,96,128,160,192,224 for the R, G or B value.

The palette problem happens when you use the same set of art for 2 different palettes. The ones that are in the special stage are correctly coloured because the palettes are suited for that. The result screen's emeralds are accessing the palette colours for the special stage, but the palette set is for the results screen. The result screen has different palettes to the ones the art is using and that is what is causing this problem. Don't worry you're not the only one to have this problem! Sonic Megamix had this at one point and I have encountered this problem before too. All you have to do is edit the art file and use the result screen colours instead of the special stage ones!

Hopefully this all makes sense to you!

I understand what you mean and when I ported them back in, sense the blue, green, and purple emeralds results palette only uses 2 colors, the emeralds have only 2 colors when being displayed (same with grey emerald which only uses only 4 colors) 2015-10-26 15_28_14-S1MapEd _ Frame 0_7 _ Pieces_ 1 _ Tile 4_10 _.png
