I hated Sonic Advance 2 style running bosses, but this one seems pretty good to me! My only problem with this is it may be hard to direct Sonic through the row of bullets. Also, I never would have thought that Spinball's Bonus Stage would fit it! One more thing, that's my midi and you've made it even better than my rendition so props to whoever made the music!

I like this boss! I like it!
What I seen on this place so far, is that sometimes the goal is getting a playable and decent result, and sometimes the goal is getting is getting a good to excellent result with much care. The former is accomplished and does quite good.
Now, the visual movement play a bit odd to me, because instead of "flying", it feels to be "floating" around instead, remind me of bad to not-so-good visual effects on TV.

Sprites: While bat is red and fly backwards his pose can perhaps be a bit more inclined, probably this maneer:
    (Google Images to the rescue!)
And turn straight horizontal again when flying forwards.

Movement: Getting nitpicky (and ignorable) here, but I felt it is so linear and static as if there were no gravity nor air force at all, only exception when flying upwards. Should do more add/sub to X/Y speeds, than doing position or timer checks for setting zero. The scene is under movement, but randomly "shaking" the bat sprite as he moves is not a good idea either because look very forced on this visual style.
Therefore, for Y, you can either use the same method that bosses use for making the ship floaty, or even call to ObjectFall and substract some Y speed each time the wings move down. X can be all right, or maybe even some minimal add/sub within certain speed range ($200 to $300 for example), to give it more variation.

Today is Sonic's 25th anniversary, and what better excuse is there to show off a feature pertaining to time?

It reminds me of something I shoddily implemented into my first hack, but with a much, much better implementation. I thinks it's awesome :D

Reminds of Final Core? I think that's the name in Sonic Adventure 2 with the time switches.

Why are those clouds looking at me in such a mean way? What did I do? =(

In all seriousness, the idea is okay, I guess. I can see an improvement as for the fact that you aren't just re-using tiles in a poor way, and you are definitely trying to make your own, which is fine. Does it need work? I'll be honest, it does. Don't worry, that is something we all learn through time. I'll give you some advice - watch how shading works in real-life objects, watch how things look. Look how things look like and try to practise. If something is also useful, is looking for pixel art tutorials that are made for people like us on the Internet.

To sum up, the idea is nice, I like the mean clouds thing, gives the level a more, even though fictional, uneasy ambiance, I suppose. Just try to give everything detail, and try to give more variety to the clouds, for example. In all costs, avoid too much repetition!

EDIT: I'm no expert as for an artist, but if there is something you need advice for, you can ask me whenever you need some feedback!

Why do people always change GHZ's checkerboard art, but still miss a lot of it? Anyhow, I've said it before for other GHZ palettes, but green+green+green is less appealing than green+orange+blue. At least, to me anyway. Reminds me of Marble Zone when underground, in fact. Just one colour everywhere.

Thank you for the feedback - I'll fix palette and other things mentioned later. Also here's a video about this WIP shit - what do you think about level layout, music and title screen palette? :)

This is what I got so far.
    10 hits your dead
    ENERG yet no energy counter.
Rings are now hearts, yet too much. They no longer grant 1 up
New moves, based on Castlevania SOTN yet the "Skewer" is incorrect.its just a normal jumpdash. Wanting it a straight ward dash & fall after the last frame.

Some of GHZ has been edited, but I'm wanting to change the levels completely to Castlevania levels.

Small preview of the revival of Sonic 2 Recreation, ignore the HUD art as it is old and experimental.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Some people might remember this from an old hack of mine some time ago, but it was never actually released in a hack in any form, so I've decided to bring it over to S2R as a replacement for Great Gate Zone.

Dude this is awesome! Is this going to be Sonic 2 Recreation part two and so is it going to enter SHC 2016?

Great Gate - one of my favourite zones (originally from your WIP Sonic Project Chaos hack - I didn't give up with waiting StephenUK :D ) is even more beautiful! I'm more hyped and thank you! ;)

There isn't going to be a "Part 2" as such. After talks with RHS we've decided that we'll be finishing the hack completely, not releasing in parts. The only reason for "Part 1" is that RHS lost his motivation to continue and didn't want to pass it off as a full complete game in case he came back to it, so he opted for the "Part 1" tag. This time, we're fully motivated again and have a lot of plans to implement to make this the hack it should have been from the start. Just one of the stages of that is to revamp all of the art to make it consistent in style and up to the standard we feel it should be.

Also, as a side note, Project Chaos will never be released. The hack was in a heavily broken state as I was halfway through revamping the game engine to utilise the S3K drawing code among other things, and as I was using SNASM68K back when I worked on it which no longer works in Windows 10, I have no desire to go back through the disassembly and convert it all to AS or any other assembler, especially for such a broken hack. If (and it's a big if) I ever decide I want to continue that hack, it will be a complete restart. Some of the features planned for it will be making their way over to S2R after talking to RHS, but time travel will not be one of them.

It's revolution of Great Gate Zone from S2 Recreation and Sonic Project Chaos hacks as I mentioned in my previous post. Still I'm happy Great Gate Zone is still WIP - I really praise this zone for unique art and level layout.

That looks awesome. The problem is that I'm already doing a project based on Sonic '06 with Crisis City included and mine is just a dark red SYZ with a lot of the foreground stuff removed and a new background. It would just be kind of weird having two hacks with Crisis City.

Anyway, the foreground art looks a lot like Oil Ocean Zone and the building on the left reminds me of the one on Mega Man 2's title screen. The background looks nice, too.

Do you own the idea/concept of using Crisis City in a ROM hack? No?
Then I don't think you're in a position to tell others what they can and can not put in a ROM hack. Just because it's been done before doesn't mean it can't still be done (think Hidden Palace, as an example). Just my two cents.
