Alright, guess this is my last trialist post.
I've decided to show off the current progress in an early alpha of my ROM hack. All progress is in the video embedded in this post.
There's a kinda big feature for a trialist to put in later into the video (and no, I didn't just use the guide, though it did serve as a reference as to where to look).
And I know the video uses the wrong codec, and that MainMemory posted a guide. I tried to fix the codec, and VirtualDub refuses to open the AVI.
Anyways, I should probably embed the video already...
Edit: Woops, forgot to credit MindlessAnne/Anne for the Super Sonic sprites.

Since I already showed some progress on the SSRG discord, why not showcase something here? dsffdsa.PNG

Nice sprite! You really pushed yourself, by making this sprite with Tails's head tilted a little bit.
I gotta say, it's impressive! you may not see it, but you really nailed his personality and cuteness in this sprite. Even it has some issues, It's still better than his actual goal plates in S2 and S3, cuz it's far more dynamic and creative.

Here, I polished the sprite a bit, I also made a S3K variant with some touches. :^3
Although I think I need to fix some stuff, like his snout for example.

What do you get when you combine Sonic 1 sprites with Sonic 3's palette? You get this:

He looks very vibrant, especially for outdoor, sunny zones.

I can't believe how perfect is the shading here.

Y'know, when people try to make custom sprites, they often try to inovate.
One of the things I see happening sometimes, is when they add shiny details in Sonic's spines.
Or, if they want to try harder, they even blend that into the shiny shades in his actual head.
But most attempts to make this idea work look like this.
    upload_2020-1-13_19-30-45.png
And while I appreciate the effort that I see in these sprites. I can't deny that they're awfully ugly.

But, You in other hand, JUST NAILED IT! ( TuT)

There's NO DISSONANCE in your sprite, and EVERYTHING, including what I said, it's gorgeously well executed!
Congratulations Lone Devil, you did what I NEVER thought it would be possible.
I'm looking really forward to this. BTW I guess I'm not the only one who entered the hype train! >:^B

    CHOO CHOO MOTHERFUCKER

In these screenshots I can see that your ability to borrow graphics from other games improved, along with your pixel art skills. You're even making custom assets! I also have to point out how you can make everything look too damn well...

    anyway, I don't know how to end this, so... Please tell me that there's going to have badniks from other games!!! ;u;

Two updated Goal Plate sprites. I think that's enough for showcasing.

As Trickster says, they are nice sprite!
But in my opinion the main problem is the colors, they are dark.
You should put lighter colors, so that they stand out more:

That's nice, but there's a palette limit, y'know. You cannot add extra palettes in the 16-bit game. It's impossible. It is only possible for fan games. That fix is kind of unnecessary IMO. Here's how the palettes work in the 16-bit video game:

    PaletteExample.png

Amy's shoes are meant to be blue like her official artwork, not pink. Rings are not supposed to be peach coloured, same with yellow springs. And lastly, the unused Frog robot from Sonic 2 is supposed to be greenish blue and sharing the same palette as Sonic. That is all. Maybe it's best to solve the palette problem to myself, but thanks anyway.

Your palette organization could use some work. If it gets to the point of making Sonic's skin yellow, then you should definitely make changes. Sonic 2 and 3K display how you can make Sonic and Tails share a palette line, and if you want to add in the yellows, you do stuff like sacrafice one of Sonic's blues or use some of Sonic's blues as shades of grey (Sonic Classic Heroes does this).
