    As amount of people already knowns, the Sonic Harder Project is a project created by me that include all the Sonic games. It aims to turn the games more extensive, and atractive, turning the levels more harder... In the Course of time, I've found more experience hacking, sure with help of a few friends, many do quite well known in the hacking scene.

    I am actually working in the first Harder Project, that is working on Sonic 1 from Mega Drive. The game shows a lot of ported musics, new sonic animations, new level graphics, and new modified sound effects, and exclusively edited level layouts and palettes.

    The most exclusively part from the hack is that him aims to restore features from another Sonic games, as the 'arrow/continuation' monitor, and musics from Master System's version of Sonic series.

    There's the playlist that the game plays into the levels:

    Green Hill Act 1 Green Grove Act 1 (Sonic 3D Blast)

    Green Hill Act 2 Angel Island Act 2 (Sonic 3)

    Green Hill Act 3 Evening Star (Knuckles Chaotix)

    Marble Act 1 Aquatic Ruin *Original* (Sonic 2 Final)

    Marble Act 2 Aquatic Ruin *Edited* (Sonic 2 Beta)

    Marble Act 3 Volcano Valley Act 1 (Sonic 3D Blast)

    Spring Yard Act 1 Casino Night (Sonic 2 Final)

    Spring Yard Act 2 and 3 Casino Night (Sonic 2 Beta)

    Labyrinth Act 1 Mystic Cave 2 Players (Sonic 2 Final)

    Labyrinth Act 2 Mystic Cave 2P/Hidden Palace (Sonic 2 Beta)

    Labyrinth Act 3 Hidden Palace (Sonic 2 Final)

    Star Light Act 1 Rusty Ruin Act 1 (Sonic 3D)

    Star Light Act 2 Rusty Ruin Act 2 (Sonic 3D)

    Star Light Act 3 Mystic Cave (Sonic 2 Final)

    Scrap Brain Act 1 Electric Egg (Sonic Chaos - Master System)

    Scrap Brain Act 2 Scrap Brain in SMS version (Sonic 1 - Master System)

    Scrap Brain Act 3 Panic Puppet Act 2 (Sonic 3D Blast)

    Final Zone The Doomsday (Sonic & Knuckles)

    First of all, thanks to all who have helped me with the bugs I've found in the wa of the work on this release.

    Special credits to:

    Nineko to create your fabulous xm2smps and xm3smps tool. Without it, my ports of SMS would not have been possible, and your music per-act tutorial.

    Mistergambit to give me permission to use his beautiful beta backgrounds in my hack.

    Tweaker to the help with sound effect porting.

    Master3k by the s3 drum styles that have sended an special effect to the musics into my hack.

    Puto to create the tutorial to add ss2 full spindash.

    SCAA to the Sonic CD's sprites like Buzzbomber and Motobug.

    All the people that got patience and gives me all the touch about the game details to improve.

    meh, no offense, but this is personally a bit too weird for me, good level design in most places, the music adaptations are okay (except for rusty ruin which I highly suggest improving) the spindash, death ring and life gained sound effects all being different is too much for a hack where the levels are mostly the same, I'd suggest making them sound more in place in the game and not just randomly changed or added. I think it's a bit too radical in some places, and not enough in others.

    Note: This is my opinion. No one elses'. This is just constructive criticism, please don't take it too seriously. It's your hack, do whatever crazy stuff you want - this is my two cents.

    There is some quite nice level design here. I like to see hacks that focus more on the Art/Layout side of things, and less on OMFG MI HAX HAS HOMNG ATTCK!! and such, which comes with ASM edits.

    I'll be keeping an eye on how this goes.

    1. Why do you share the source code? Isn't Cass10 enough?

    2. Nah, betatesting was no problem. Actually I like it to betatest. No problem. :eek:

    What a pity you did when you hack off the biggest success: since its version 1, until that last one was a great big hack, always was. I must say that you did a beautiful job with the music, layouts, and so on. Really is to be congratulated

    Does look hard. I like the way Sonic dies off the screen. Good work.

    I think you could add more changes to the sprites itself though and the level art.

    The sidewards moving was the first thing made by me. <_<

    I know, double post, but:

    Update!

    After a long time, Edu decided to post the first new updates. There are WAY MORE updates than the following one, but these are just some of them. Also, because Edu doesn't have any time, I should post the updates (so don't ask =P). However, here is the major update:

    S1HL has now a Blog!

    Yup, I don't know if it was said somewhere else, but I'm going to post it anyway. S1HL has blog, which (hopefully) gives you the lastest information about the hack. There isn't much done yet, so don't expect to much, when clicking the link. There are some updates about the hack, which you can read here (just copy/paste =P):

    =====================================================

    http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XhjHxlEsAh0/Sglt.../BLABLABLA3.PNG (image link doesn't work....)

    In the pic you see:

    - New textures on GHZ wall - Improved (more) the gradient for HUD and HUD numbers

    - Added a fine gradient for the life counter and life counter numbers

    Internal fixes:

    - Fixed all sprite colors

    - Fixed the extra life bug. Now the 1UP plays the 'YES!' voice from Sonic CD

    - Added new sound effects for 10-RING powerup and for the NORMAL RING sound

    - Added (restored) pitch bends from the Hybrid Front music in Spring Yard Act 2

    - Green Hill Zone Act 3 music changed to a song based on Kirby's Adventure for NES

    - Swapped the graphics from Green Hill Act 3 to Green Hill Act 4 and vice-versa

    - Scrap Brain Zone Act 1 music changed to Gimmick MT Zone from Sonic 2 8-bit

    - Fixed wrong spring colors

    - Fixed monitor pixels width that appears shows Sonic in mid-air when he stands over it

    - Added edited sound effects for bumpers, lava balls, and electrocution orbs from Scrap Brain

    - New song for Labyrinth Act 3. Tidal Plant, from Sonic Triple Trouble

    - More work on Labyrinth Zone Act 4 graphics (screenshot soon!)

    - Added water moving background effect to Green Hill

    - Updated the falling lava in the begining of Marble Act 2 (screenshot soon!)

    =====================================================

    Hope you have patience, because no-one will get a private beta (not even me). So, keep waiting for updates and imagine you are playing the game, using your brain. =P

    I second that opinion, this hack isn't better than Megamix... yet, after all hacks are constantly getting better. :)

    Megamix is the best hack ever. End of Story. Sure, there are many other good hacks, but Megamix has EVERYTHING. HL is the second best hack in my opinion.

    Megamix = A hack

    Harder Levels = Another hack

    or...

    Harder Levels = A hack

    Megamix = Another hack

    The hacks has different objective concepts, different history, and all around. But both are good.

    Compare one with the other is strange. Is as compare Street Fighter with Sonic.

    Different objectives.
