I'm a noob at Level Tiles. I asked a lot of people, but nobody answers. So I'll post it here. My Question is, wich program do I need? I used SonED2 to export as 16x16 Tiles. I edited it. But when I import the file again, I see no changes! Please help me!

I personally edit them in SonED 2. Each 8x8 one by one.

You exportet them in 8x8 tiles, not in 16x16 blocks, right? If the 8x8 thing, then I have 4 lines with the tiles, and No.3 is the one with the correct pallette. Must I edit every line or just No.3?

You can edit the 8x8's pixel by pixel in SonED2.

If you have the knowledge, you can also export tiles in SonMapED, and edit those, though it's not as effecient on saving tiles.

    I don't export them. I edit them in SonED2.

Are you certain you're reimporting the modified file? Personally, I always export, edit them as 128x128 chunks and then reimport as such. Works like a charm every time.

Remember that SonED2 can only import version 5 pcx files. Not bmp or png files. When you do import something, I believe that it's added to the end of the existing art and mappings, but it's been a long time so I don't remember.

Anyway, if you're trying to edit an existing level, the best way is to use the built in tile editor. When you use the tile importer, you can end up with a lot of near duplicate tiles.

Oh, I need the same format? Then I should do it again. I must export them, because someone (not in the comunity) wants to edit them. But SonED 2 is using this stupid .pcx format, instead of a simple .bmp or .png >_< !

It cant use png or bmp for a reason. It has to use PCX. Don't knock it unless you know why.

It probably could have used PNG or BMP if stealth had wanted it to, they can have a limited set palette just like pcx files.

To be honest, I think that editing 8x8 in SonED2 is still the best way. It's long winded, but at least it cuts out all the issues you get when importing art.
