intresting concepts, love the beach type zone and love the mix of charecter combos - the level with lightning strikes in the background could use some tweaking and call me boring but i like the hud in the old postiton better.

I like it. Some parts look like they need some work. Overall not only is it visually impressive, it's technically impressive.

It's not going to change from one trailer to another =P

Would you prefer the old Eggman back or would you like to share your new ones? I'm sure an extra red won't be a problem =P

Very nice hack, interesting idea. Coincidentally, the hack I am currently making is a sonic 2 remake, but I am only really changing the art and level layout. Will there be a hidden palace-esque level in this hack, or are you only recreating the real levels?

I haven't updated in a little while so I thought I'd show you this quickly:

    .

A peek on how the layer deformation works on Great Gate Zone in Sonic 2 Recreation. Clouds move automatically and everything else moves when Sonic moves. When you go underwater, the background changes completely and there are water effects/ripples. It changes back immediately when out of the water.

It's a pain in the arse recording and playing it at the same time, the emulator goes so slow, that I can't play it properly, hence why I jumped on the spikes =P

I hope StephenUK likes on what I've made of his unused art =)

GWolf, you know what to do once it's out (which will hopefully happen before you finish the Sonic Generations LP).

Haha, thanks. Well I can say this is how I am progressing so far =

    • West Bay Zone (EHZ) 100%
    • Tricky Tower Zone (CPZ) 15% (It's Psy's job, but he hasn't done anything on it yet, and haven't heard from him properly in a while).
    • Great Gate Zone (ARZ) 50% (act 1 is done, act 2 now on it's way)
    • Snow level (CNZ) 5% (started on it, but haven't got too far)
    • Portal (HTZ) N/A% (it's done, it just gets added more warps to levels every now and then)
    • Construction (MCZ) 10% (all art is done and mappings, that's about it though)
    • Ocean Base (OOZ) 10% (ditto as above, although unsure to keep this level...)
    • Chaos Angel Zone (MZ) 60% (act 1 is done, act 2 is half way, act 3 is done, just needs finishing touches)
    • Gem Runway Zone (HPZ) 75% (act 1 is done, act 2 is halfway)
    • SCZ, WFZ and DEZ hasn't been touched.
    • Special stages are in the concept stages

The levels also won't be in this order.

As for the bosses, EHZ and ARZ boss are the same, but after 8 hits, they enter an all new pinch mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGada1Ni5sI. I would like to point out, I did this video a while ago, that's why Great Gate's zone's layer deformation isn't working in this video. Also, both bosses has slightly improved since.

HPZ boss is brand new and is now working prefectly. Still my most pride and joy!

Some music is done by SOTI, like West Bay Zone, but ValleyBell has done a lot of my music, for HPZ, MZ and a few others.

Oh hey, Gens' bastardisation of the PSG by replacing a coarse square wave with a sine wave returns. Not the best thing to use in a video like this, but eh.

Looks nice though, even though it's the same Great Gate I've seen ages ago.

    eh?

Yes, the art is from StephenUK's Project Chaos hack. He was no longer using it and said I can make a use of it in my hack.

Nice job, Red! This hack looks more solid than I expected!

The layout is clean and flowing and in terms of art there's tons to see.

The music may need a little brushing up, though; Sometimes when you don't

use the kick in the drums often, it sounds floaty and not complete. In other words, using

the timpani as the kick all the time in the song does seem a little unnecessary.

    Other than that, nice work!

EDIT: Oh yes, I love your title cards. They're brilliant.

All the old music will be replaced, and all new music is being replaced by ValleyBell, as I can't do music for shit =P

As for the Timpani, ValleyBell edited it a bit yesterday funnily enough, so it may sound better next time =)

Thought it was time for a quick update.

You know people have water ripples in their hacks for when you're underwater? Well, new to Sonic 2 Recreation, there is a new sound mode for underwater; to give more to the illusion you're in the water! The music and ALL sound effects change when you enter water and revert back when you come out of water!

This is a short video to show you the new effect:

Thanks to ValleyBell for implementing this into the Sound Driver.

EDIT: Sorry for the crap quality, but you know Gens' Recording =P

Not bad, but a suggestion to make it better. Make the music quieter when your underwater, and I suppose the sound effects couldn't hurt if possible. Just the way it is and for what you've gone for, it just doesn't seem quite right yet.

I have nothing more to say than what Animemaster has already said, fantastic work on the effect, but maybe make it quieter, in conjunction though, I will say turn off that damn Gens PSG "high quality" bollocks.

    ...please? =(
