Actually it is from a game; more specifically a mockup I made of the Mega Man X3 Intro Stage a few months back. Selbi approached me for something appropriate for the mood and I provided a few; this is the one he liked the most.

 

Even if you used Game Genie, you wouldn't get any results. The hack has been programmed and optimized to work with GHZ Act 2 only (do note the word 'optimized', as there are a bazillion things going on behind the scene to make this thing work).
Should I ever get bored I could update this to make it work with the entire game though. We'll see.

Also, I probably could've added the name of the songs in the credits... oh well.

Excuse me, but what's the point in you making all these screenshots? And why are they so huge and blurry as hell?

I think, Selbi knows better whether he should or shouldn't post screenshots of his own hack in his own thread.

I can't actually see those screenshots at all. Is it possible that the website he used only works within Russia or something?

 

There may be the issues with your country specifically, nineko. Because I've just tried few foreign proxies -- the images still show up.

 

Shows up fine on my end.

It was. I actually even wanted to make Sonic invincible to bottomless pits, so that there's no way you can lose, but I couldn't be bothered.
While it may not be "spikes" the general idea has been brought up.

 

Explosives are cool and I really like the game. Also it would be cool if the other levels had that effect too.

Asking here because I don't want to bump the Retro topic (therefore, thanks for the bump, ScoutCDTen (I guess)):

Would anyone be interested in a full version of this hack? You know, removing the fake crash screen at the end of GHZ2 and just going on with GHZ3.

Unfortunately, my code is more than fucking terrible. Because I didn't really take that thing seriously at all when I started working it, most of the stuff is not only unoptimized on a programming level, but even more so on an artistic one. Here's a random snippet from the MBV event handler. Now imagine plowing through an entire disassembly, modified with the mindset of only using GHZ1 and GHZ2. Sadly, this isn't just a simple two minutes job.

So I want to know if anyone would even care about such a thing before I work my butt over that. After all, it's not going to be much different to what the current game already has to offer.

 

Personally I took this as a joke hack either way. Perhaps you could make an additional joke effect when ending act 2, everything is calm for a few seconds and then act 3 starts and it all starts again. Perhaps you could even make something interesting with the boss fight. But after that, meh... It's kind of like onion rings, it's really funny the first 5 minutes, it's a challenge to get through the first zone or two but then it looses the initial charm. I'd say go for it if you have interesting ideas for some of the other parts of the game, but otherwise you've already made the joke.

Also my eyes bled just after playing the one act so I doubt I could play through the entire game even if I tried. And I have no problem with the rape hacks.

 

That's hilarious. Really. Anywho, yes, I would like an extended version, I was rolling with the first release, and to have more of your hilarious writing in any hack is a plus in my book.
