Current Status: Being Redone (I'm remaking the hack with a disassembely. This Release was just a Basic Idea and a Beta Version.)

Sonic 2: Dead Chaos is based after Sonic 2, but before Sonic 3.

    Story

    -----

Sonic Was flying on the tornado after he defeated the Death Egg Robot when

Eggman Fired one last attack. This Laser was his last resort against Sonic,

which blasted the Tornado out of the sky.

It crash landed into the seas of Emerald Hill Zone, Along with Sonic and Tails.

They were unable to get to the surface and died.

At least 1 year later, the Chaos Emeralds strangely teleported to the location

of the dead heroes and they started to suround Sonic and Tails.

Then suddenly, they began to show signs of life, when they were teleported

to the Dead Hill Zone, which was originaly called Emerald Hill.

Once they arrived, Sonic and Tails began to lose their colour and skin,

    and the Emeralds Disappeared.

They had been revived by them, but not restored.

"Hmmmm..... What happened here?" Sonic thought, "And how are we alive?!"

"I'm not sure but aparrently we seem to be different." Tails responded.

"I thought we died when Eggman shot that laser at us. Besides that, we look like skeletons!"

Sonic said, whilist looking at himself.

"I think this might have something to do with Eggman." Tails thought.

"Well, there's no point standing around like dead people. Lets find the emeralds and stop Eggman!"

    Sonic said with confidence.

"Umm Sonic. We ARE Dead People." Tails reminded Sonic.

"Accually we're dead Animals." Sonic responded.

"Just forget it. We've got a dying world to save!"

Tails said, before they set off on another adventure!

    Levels

    ------

    Dead Hill Zone:

Emerald Hill was once green and alive, until Sonic had died.

The water had turned to blood and the grass withered.

Strangely, some badniks are still around, but they have rusted.

Current Level Music: Hidden Palace Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Hill Zone (Sonic.exe Creepypasta)

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-84847500-1374312777_thumb.jpg

    Blood Lust Zone:

Chemical Plant had been originally used to pollute the environment,

but started to rust and the pink water was replaced by blood.

Eggman sure went crazy after Sonic's death.

He went so crazy that he started killing animals for fun!

Current Level Music: Oil Ocean Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned.

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-82268900-1374312968_thumb.jpg

    Zombie Lake Zone:

The Aquatic Ruins were a beautiful sight, until tombstones and graves were placed here.

The badniks here are powered by zombie animals that weren't rescued.

There is obivously blood here too.

Current Level Music: Mystic Cave Zone Multiplayer Mode (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Kingdom Vally Section 1 (Sonic the Hedgehog 2006)

    Graveyard City Zone:

Casino Night, the one place that had life size slot machines.

What I mean by "had" is the place is no longer in action.

People stopped visiting when Eggman killed Sonic.

Current Level Music: Casino Night Zone Multiplayer Mode (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned.

    Skeleton Cliff Zone:

Hill Top is the highest place in mobius, well sorta.

Skeletons have been known to wander these cliffs.

Unlike the other zones with some sort of liquid in them, there's no blood here.

Current Level Music: Sky Chase Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Pumpkin Hill (Sonic Adventure 2/Battle)

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-91791900-1374313045_thumb.jpg

    Deadly Ruins Zone:

The Mystic Cave turned into an undead nightmare.

You can barely see anything in here.

Well, anything except evil, creepy things(luckily, no Sonic.exe and Tails Doll).

Current Level Music: Mystic Cave Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned.

    Blood Sea Zone:

Oil Ocean was Eggman's Main Power plant.

It produced energy for his bases(How the Hell should I know how it worked?).

But what is with the blood and stuff?

Probably animals died in the oil causing it to become blood.

Current Level Music: Hidden Palace Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Oil Desert Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2)

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-16220300-1374313042_thumb.jpg

    Dead Factory Zone:

Eggman's own Metropolis Zone abandoned because of ghosts and spirits.

Before Eggman left this haunted place, he set up a huge wall around it.

I believe he said something about a evil doll wandering around the factory.

It seems to not harm the undead, meaning Sonic and Tails are able to hang around it.

Current Level Music: Metropolis Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned

    Dead Flight Zone:

Strangely, Tails was able to find the Tornado nearby.

Even wierder is he could repair it with the rings that Sonic Collected.

So They fly off into the red sky and go after Eggman.

Current Level Music: Death Egg Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Tornado Defence: Eggmanland (Sonic Unleashed: PS3 and X-Box 360 versions)

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-16917200-1374313045_thumb.jpg

    Undead Fortress Zone:

Eggman's undead flying fortress, the 2nd highest mechanical fortress built by Eggman.

He has made a run for it, took off in this thing and is now going into space!

    What else is gonna happen?

Current Level Music: Emerald Hill Zone Multiplayer mode (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned

    Dead Egg Zone:

The Death Egg, Eggman's Giant Space station.

He decided that it would be a good idea to turn off all the lights, and paint everything black.

Well at least he's FINALLY using his so-called 300 IQ properly.

Although he's renovated this place, it's still in a bad shape from when Sonic Destroyed it the first time.

PLUS, YOU CAN'T TELL HOW MANY LIVES YOU'VE GOT!

(Eggman has secretly hidden almost complete replicas of the chaos emeralds in the death egg robot.)

Current Level Music: Death Egg Zone (Sonic 2)

Planned Level Music: Nothing is currently planned.

    /monthly_07_2013/post-2590-0-34205700-1374313044_thumb.jpg

Planned Credits Music: Windy Hill Zone (Sonic Lost World)

Planned Boss Battle Music: Nothing is currently planned.

Planned Level Clear Music: Round Clear (Shadow the Hedgehog)

Planned Invincibility Music: Seven Rings in Hand - Crush 40 Version (Sonic & the Black Knight)

    Characters

    ----------

    Sonic the Hedgehog(Deceased):

The fastest thing alive is DEAD?! Well sorta. The chaos emeralds gave Sonic and Tails life, and a undead appearance.

Sonic is slightly faster than his original self and can jump a bit higher because of his body not being covered in Flesh and Skin.

It seems that the only way to regain his true form is to gather the 7 Chaos Emeralds and defeat Dr Eggman.

    Miles "Tails" Prower(Deceased):

Sonic's Best Pal, Tails has been with him on most of his adventures.

Unfortunately, the last one they were on ended up with them dead.

Luckily, the Chaos Emeralds revived Tails and Sonic, also giving them a chance to cure themselves of their undead state.

Strangely, Tails remembers that he was in a state similar to this one, but cannot exactly tell if it's real(hint: Sonic's ........ Costume).

Doctor Ivo Robotnik a.k.a. "Eggman"(Partaly deceased):

The Doc has done it this time. And by "done it", I mean he KILLED SONIC AND TAILS!

Eggman fired a laser at them to finish off his hated enemy once and for all.

In the process, he was partaly killed. Eggman's body is undead, but his heart is alive.

Once he heard of Sonic's survival, He went crazy!

Now Eggman is going to get rid of him no matter what.

These are some Pictures I made that promote the Hack:

Ok bro. Interesting concepts.... But that's it, concepts.

Tell me, why should I, or anybody for that matter, waste the time of downloading this? I don't mean to be rude, but reading long ass concept ideas isn't a way of reeling in viewers. I'd like to see screens. Otherwise, this little project isn't gonna get off the ground. Also on that note, why would all the zone music be HPZ? It's a great track, sure. But it'd get repetitive quite quickly.Just some things to consider.

The Hidden Palace Zone Music sounds like it would resemble a dead world and also I don't know how to add different music to the rom.

So the music is all I could manage for the time being.

The Long concept section was orignally in a text file that came with the hack so people could get an understanding of what this is about.

And I apologise for the absence of the gameplay screenshots and other related things.

I'm not that skilled with making the epic trailers that are seen with hacks like Sonic Winter Adventures.

I'll hopefully add these things ASAP.

I don't mean epic trailers. One or two screenshots of your hack is all we need. At least you went back and posted a few.

Back to the topic of music. I'd personally just put the music order back to stock. I know you want to make the game spooky and shit, but making all the tracks to HPZ isn't the way to go. Honestly, it's kinda annoying going through a whole game and hearing the same track 80% of the time. Come on now, we're not in the 80's anymore, there's a reason SEGA made all those music tracks.

Otherwise, interesting concept. I'd suggest you do some more with it though. Palette needs a bit of work. I know what the game is supposed to be, but there are more colors besides red, grey, black, darker red, darker grey, and white. Some deep blues would be nice. Play that old hack, Sonic 2: Long Version and look at Genocide City. That level is kinda creepy. Otherwise, interesting start.

There are other somewhat creepy tracks in Sonic 2. Perhaps you could make use of Death Egg's music?

Deja vu. reminds me of the day when I first signed up here 4 years back when I did something very much similar to what you are doing, course mine was a bit over the top since I was a bit of a fan character noob back then. but besides the point and on topic now, I echo what Superegg has stated about this being an interesting concept, but honestly a hack that only consist of a recolor of sonic and the palettes for each zone being red with little or no edits to anything else just does't catch my interest into wanting to play this. along with the fact of almost every zone having HPZ as the music just seems a bit redundant. though again I will say that it is an interesting concept so that's a start in it's self there.

I'm sorry, but this just looks and sounds like a bad creepypasta. And damn, that's a lot of red.

I'm planning on somehow making an undead remix of each levels theme like an undead Emerald Hill Theme.

The problem is puting it on the hack.

That is actually pretty original, but I just don't like the idea. It seems pretty boring to me.

Dude, use a disassembly we don't like seeing a hack made with ESE2, its an obsolete tool. You use Sonik sprite too and Sonic Tweaker which are also obsolete. The only way your hack will be able to be spooky or whatever like you want, you need to edit music, code new enemies. change the zone art, which can only be possible with the tools like SonEd2 and SonMapED, and a disassembly. These are some cool concepts but you wont be able to obtain them with ESE2. Here are some links to programs you will need.

    http://info.sonicretro.org/SonED2, http://info.sonicretro.org/SonMapEd, http://info.sonicretro.org/Xm4smps. Happy hacking.

The post above is an understatement, given the right knowledge, you can change anything you desire without the aid or need of SonED2, SonMapED, SonLVL, disassemblies, etc. The tools are there to make it easier, not to make it possible.

Not that I'm encouraging anyone away from disassemblies, if it allows you to pay attention to making the game more, then go for it. I'm just making it clear that those resources are not your last and only lines of defence.

I remember the days before widespread utilities and disassemblies. Editing mappings, palettes and even writing new code in hex, those were the days. The only utility back then worth bothering with was SonED, and even then the free version only wrote to savestates. You still had to port everything from the savestate to the ROM manually. Good times.

Please may someone make a video of each stage and pm it to me? I'd love to play this hack, but it won't work

What the hell are you talking about? Why can't you play this hack? Just download the fucking thing and play it. I don't know why you're having issues where nobody else is. Also, you're not missing out on much. It's just a hack that changes all the palettes to 4 or 5 main colors and has minimal layout changes. All that shit he was talking about before was just expectations for his hack, and nothing else.

P.S. Stop writing in colored text. It's fucking annoying.
