No it's not, that's all I'll say. This is just a sneak peak and is not the final image. Btw this is still Sonic: Back2TheFuture.( The 8 bit, advance hack)

These 2 come from Sonic 1 Nightmare Edition And I wanted to show em off. So yea. These are just pallette changes however.

They look nice, but I'd say change the colo(u)r of the clouds on your Marble Zone (mainly the blue). Both palettes looks very similar too.

There's a lot of purple in your hack Cavequest which after a while can be pretty monotonous to look at while going through the game, I understand that the hack is nightmare themed but purple isn't the only colour that you can use to make the levels look nightmare-ish.

To critique the palettes you've presented here I like the dark yellow grass for Hell Top Zone but the clouds and the shading of the castle walls need some work as there seems to be some left over colours from stock Marble Zone. As for Haunted Casino Zone the shading looks a lot better but as Chaotix mentioned the purple for both zones look similar to each other.

Here are some examples of palettes you could use for your levels (plus one for Nightmare Hill Zone), you don't have to use the exact same colours I made but you can use them as reference points for making nightmare-ish palettes without the overuse of purple.

I see what you mean. Even Underground Maze Zone is purple but it's in more of a darker color then other stages while atm Dead Space and Blood Factory have both redish colours.

Foreground looks good. Background does but the water reflections are too bright (I know these are only suggestions of yours, but thought I'd comment anyway).

    Looks perfect.

Again, foreground is good, background, the clouds are good but the green do not suit the mountains.

The background stars sort of blend with the foreground, since they're a similar orange-yellow color, and some of them are way to big IMO. Otherwise, it looks pretty good to me.

The Background looks a bit "busy" in my opinion. Too many stars, are those circle things stars? well whatever they are they are a bit big. I also think that they should have more colour, rather than just yellow.

Maybe this background for FBZ1 will be less "busy" and linear?

That background looks way too colorful for its own good. Makes it really hard to see anything properly. You need to saturate it a lot! Its also really repetitive and doesnt really resemble a what background should look like.

I've finished the layout for the first act of Heavenly Hill (EHZ), I spent almost a week finishing this level layout, most of that time was restarting the layout since I felt unsatisfied with each completed attempt, I would either find these scrapped layouts either bland or too cluttered. I know I am spoiling the level by releasing a video of it but I wanted some feedback on it so that I can use said feedback to improve my layouts.

Notes: The palette that was used for EHZ in the last video is now being used for Act 2 (Credit to Mike B Berry for his Dynamic Palettes guide). Also this hack is now called "Sonic 2: A Warrior's Edit".

I've noticed that most rings are a bit too low to the ground. Also I think there are quite a bit of extra life monitors too close to each other, maybe get rid of some of the extra life monitors? Other than that I don't see too many issues.

Not to be "that guy" but... how come most/all Sonic 2 hacks mostly feature palette-hacked graphics? I know some hacks feature new level art but mostly it's just the same art with a new palette. Is it just harder to make new level art for Sonic 2 than Sonic 1 (hacks of which tend to be more likely to feature custom art)?

I have two reasons why I think this happens, one they have no artistic ability what so ever, or they don't know how to import art (Or he plans to edit art later). Anyway I second what Ravenfreak said and those rings should be floating a little bit above the ground, then it will look better. Other than that the layout is pretty solid, and takes advantage of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles play styles which is always nice to see.

While I'm actually quite fond of the foreground, the background seems a bit plain. You can see how the FG completely contrasts with the BG in regards to shading; maybe some dithering would be a good idea?

What I meant was, there's too much going on in the background, it's also repetitive. Look at say Stardust speed way BG for an example, the stars are spread out and not as repetitve. I also think the colour's brightness needs to go down.

Thank you all for a feedback! In this time I did a video, that shows small level layout and tiles edit in FBZ1. About "repetitive" background now I get it correctly - thank you Animemaster! :D About colors - I tried with darker colours and shading, but results was very shitty, maybe if I try it more times I'll have a decent result. I didn't expected, that FBZ1 background will be such a pain in the ass for me to edit... (scrolling/animated tiles *cough*, background swap *cough*)
