    Little addition.
Very simple, but I really liked the result.

And I know the water is ugly as fuck. I am still messing around with it.

Personally, i really like the water, the sky is very beautiful, the palette is particularly nice.

And the wood's Wood Zone are nice too.

Your water and sky palette is exactly what I have wanted to do for a 16-bit game for the longest, and the water looks amazing, as does the sky. Your palettes are incredible, and very Chaotix/32X-esque too.

Green Hill's Layout is too boring? Well, say hello to a brand new layout, coming soon in Project Energy! (former Project Crimson)

This time I included few custom slopes and tried avoid "pillow shading". Is it decent enough? I'm asking, because I can't judge myself - I lack of art taste (I would be fine with 90% of stuff).

A very nice job as always! These trees rembind me of some old NES games. Very nice job, dude!

This makes me really curious. I really hope the level design to be good this time, because your last attempts with level design and object positioning weren't in fact good enough.

Is this the spiritual successor to Metal Sonic Hyperdrive you were taking about? Either way I enjoyed Hyperdrive and I am looking forward to this hack

I am working hardly on a new layout for GHZ 1-3, I already finished act 1 2 and 3, but I felt like it Needs reworking.
    I think I'll do a Act 1 Video soon, when I finished Act 1.

I've been practicing pixel art lately. This has been done by editing the tiles in SonLVL. I plan on making the cave section be in large rocks to be more cave-y and match the original Wave Ocean. The background has its colors switched using Sonic 3K's method and it reduced the random pixels to about 3 which is way more acceptable than it would be using Sonic 1's method.

I'm pretty sure I won't be putting Sonic Next Genesis in the contest because I have a lot of work to do and the deadline is in about a month.

Edit: By "all" I meant the rocky part. I have shown off mostly everything else previously.

Looks great, but the lack of contrast between the foreground and background's palettes makes it a little hard to tell apart. More so if it were in action, at fast pace. Just a little, though. I've seen much worse, but maybe just make it slightly darker?

I'm not one to argue with criticism, but I don't see how it's hard to tell them apart. The oranges, blue-greens, and blues of the background seem to me to be pretty distinguishable from the browns and greens of the foreground. The most common color among the two is their blacks, and I don't think darkening either the foreground or the background would improve that. What do you mean by "it" that I should darken?

In my opinion majority of palette colors are okay - my only nitpick are dark brown color on the island in BG, because it looks off and it ruining shading for me (too dark). About sky color, I think Calvin meant that sky should be less bright, because it could look jarring for few people - good examples of sky color done right are Angel Island Zone Act 1, Marble Garden Zone Act 2 or Azure Lake, because they stand out from FG more in my opinion. This looks still good, but try with other colors or shades of blue - results can be even better.
