One of my first attempts to make a trailer for my upcoming hack on SHC 2018. Music that was used here is Sonic Riders - Digital Dimension (one of my favorite Sonic tracks ever).

You should probably use seperate palette lines for the FG and BG, other than that it's pretty nice.

Made an oscilloscope view for my Genesis cover of At Dawn (Speed Highway) from Sonic Adventure 1. I'm getting used to doing these videos now and most likely will render some Genesis OSTs with this type of view.

Also you can see the ladder effect in action here!

Looks good, but there is an overall feel of incompleteness, and that blue flying thing (first thought it was a checkpoint, but idk) doesn't feel round enough (I guess you tried to fit it in your tiles). Good luck with finishing this, looking forward for your hack!

After a really shitty year with lots of personal troubles... I am slowly getting back to hacking. Maybe I will show something in the next SHC (considering that I will learn how to fix simple problems with Sonic 1).

This is probably very close to the final version, with plans to add only a little thing or two and re-arrange the blocks to look better in a finished version of a future layout, which by now is just experimental.
    Also, name suggestions?

Pretty nice graphics you got going there!

As for the level name, I've congered up a few...

    Sunset Sewers
    Cyber City
    Macabre Metropolis
    Caliginous City
    Stygian Skyscrapers
    Titanic Towers

...okay, maybe they're a bit too long to fit in Sonic 1's title card limits, but I'm sure you get the point.

    Urban Umbrage
    Industrial Engine
    Magma Metropolis
    Forgotten Foundry

You have way too many repeating tiles for the ground, I'd suggest giving it more variety with some new tiles sprinkled here and there.

Also, why is the earth in the background orange? Kind of an odd choice, unless it's supposed to be some sort of alien planet.

The top of the ground and the pole can stay as is, though, they're pretty good.

I agree with Alfredo, those tiles are way too repetitive.

As for the planet, I think it's Mars to be honest. It could be anything though.

At first I thought that the repetitive art could be a homage to Thexder, but even Thexder is less repetitive than that.

Damn it, now I wish that someone could make a Sonic hack with Thexder's levels.

As everybody said, it's VERY repetitive and I don't understand why the ground is completely flat, it doesn't look good, add some decoration. Also, when I looked at the wall, I noticed that there isn't any corner tiles, which makes the wall a very infinished look and that DEZ door doesn't fit your tiles.
Overall, this is a good start, but should have more variety.

Yes, but these tiles look weird, like that one with green thing inside, they don't fit the lighting you choose, maybe you should touch it up? Next thing I find wrong is the slope, it doesn't follow your shading, you should make it look like it actually follows your floor. (And yes, it's still repetitive, you should make some blocks to spice it up)
Also you should make more over-ground decorations (metallic things), because it looks too bland.
and red space makes no sence, change it to black
