SA2 hacking is extremely underrated.
I suggest having the grey background or foreground in a different color so it doesn't blend each other/cause confusion.
The black shading behind the number 2 could use some work. either way, decent choice of colors. I bet it's animated via palcycle.

Looks cool but I recommend updating the Metal Sonic sprites to this foreground palette also resembles Sonic's palette a bit too much..

Actually, Rev00 doesn't deform SYZs' BG at all. It remains boringly static until you port in the Rev01 effects.
