Kung fu car fighting. Do you want to play it? It is not quite near done yet maybe 50% done and I almost forgot to mention it is for the sega genesis.

That's pretty damn cool actually! I'm no car fan by any means, but this is something quite new and exciting, do you have plans on making it into a full 3D perspective car racing game, you know, kinda like Outrun?

Glad you enjoyed it! I would like to finish the 2D version first however I would like to at some point do something 3D at some point on the genesis.

So, I already posted an earlier picture of my Bridge Zone remake on Sonic Retro but I haven't shared anything here yet... Sooo~ I spent most of yesterday and the day before working on the background to my Bridge Zone. Most of that time was me not having a clue where to even start, breaking colour palettes which I didn't know were used by vital objects in the level (I had always thought those were on palettes different to those in SonEd2.) And then there was the point where I accidentally clicked "Make Level 2P Compat" and it broke EVERYTHING EVER and I had to start on the clouds again from scratch. But yeah.

I need to make at least one, probably two, variants on the green hills in the background to break up the loop but I'm kind of happy with the way it's turned out.

Wish I could figure out how to control what parts of the EHZ background are scrolling and at which rate though, I've built around it so far but... Ehugh.

If anyone's interested, I've been posting all my progress as it happens on my Tumblr under the Sonic Master Mix tag including progress shots of the background as I was working on it and a gameplay video.

I know it's not probably all that impressive, but I thought I'd show what I've been working on anyway. I have a lot of passion for this project c:

Wow you have amazing art abilities Bridge zone was always one of my favorite levels and I always wanted to see a 16bit remix of it and I am glad that you made one. Do you know when we are able to play this?

Well, I'm not going to rush it out but at the current rate I'm working I'd say I'll have Bridge Zone in a playable state in maybe 2-3 months?

If you have it in a near finished state in time, you should think about submitting it to the Sonic the Hedgehog Hacking Contest!! It's a great way to get your hack well known and "out there" to the public even if you don't win anything. I have to say the art there is very attractive, though.

What you're looking for about EHZ scrolling, btw, is called layer deformation. I hope that helps you out. =)

If I get the first few stages done in time for the deadline then I'd love to submit it to the contest c: It just depends on if I make significant enough progress or not really, I don't want to submit something unfinished and sub-par quality.

And thanks for that c: , looking around for Layer Deformation stuff lead me to Selbi's Parallax Editor but I'm unsure as to where to paste the code it generates in the HG Sonic 2 disassembly. Despite Selbi's guide telling me where to put it I can't find that line in any of my ASM files ;_; I should probably ask this in the Q&A thread though.

Looking good overall. However it seems you've got alot of art fixing to do though.

Yeah, this video is very old. I'm making a video with new screen shots for post soon. Also, this video was posted by a fan.

    Thank you anyways!

I see you're doing another easy level Selbi, I want to play that :D

I guess the next step is to turn your hack into a bullet hell platformer. xD

A little screen from my hack, just because I like the green:

It's really early wip though, I didn't even change the art, haha!

That's from a random level, they're meant to give the player a chance to use the wall jump a lot, and on that side, it's a success. xD

You did it very well with that "green liquid". The palette is perfect, I like it!

Btw, the Sonic sprite has a very good looking too.

GHZ art keeps confusing my eyes a lot. It's too flat, dude.

I may be a bit rude, but the second picture shows a GHZ with VERY odd palette. It looks horrible, you could make something better in the colors, because the first one from GHZ looks too "dead/green" in the yellow tonality. You tried to make a vertical loop which looks in the true 3D aspect it must be. Actually I see it's not in the 3D aspect it could be, but the way you did to it looks... looks OK.

The background art from GHZ is too "full of things". You definitely need to give it a cleanup, starting from the fix of the distance aspect of its tree/grass part below. MZ art looks good (those bricks looks a bit familiar...), but the sun isn't too far from the rest of the art?

You could try a 32x32 pixels sun like in Oil Ocean. It could give a much better aspect to your art. Not bad for its dust part which kinda remind me Dust Hill, but this looks too repetitive. Good work as well.

Probably the last screen for a while. I still have to create, design & program the unique enemy and the boss for this level, but it won't be done any time soon. I have to modify several other things before that anyway.
