Naw it's just Wacky Workbench GF, coverted to Sonic 2.

Edit: Fixing the collision is the most time consuming part.

New and improved emeralds plus some touchups on the mine and gold star blocks

Had a little change of mind on the BG colors because I didn't want to give away the emerald color through the BG or anything else. So, this is what I came up with instead:

    SS 1

    SS 2

    SS 3

    SS 4

    SS 5

    SS 6

    SS 7

*Porky Pig rises from the center,* Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-... That's all, folks!

But in all seriousness, this is much better than using flat black as the background main color. I especially love the choices used to disguise the emerald color.

I'm using black as the main BG color only for the 7th stage. The BG you put in your reply is for the 6th stage. Do keep in mind that the BGs will be animated.

Please do not quote posts directly above you, thanks.

As for these changes, they do look better, and I still want to see this in action. Enough teasing already =P

Oh, do pardon me for that, if I quoted the post right above me. But I am making good progress here.

Nice, but you should change the water colour a little.

It would be awesome if the background scrolled vertically the further down you went, so that it doesn't look like the island is submerged underwater with you, when you're near the bottom of the level. I remember that being something I didn't like in Megamix's Misty Maze.

Actually that's not a bad choice for a LZ background, in fact I like how this looks. now if only you could have the Bg scroll set to where it won't scroll down to fast and the mountains are still showing when you go underwater and it would look better.

Well, I'm working on an underwater section as I originally planned for the level:

Couldn't help showing this off, but this graphics update is the final version. Also, the palettes are finalized as well.

    Notable design updates:

    • Sonic 4-ish wall block

    • Poker chip timer blocks

    • Checkpoint block is redrawn as a black glass barrier block
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to make it where each SS has its own palette, so I made seven different palettes. The only difference is the fourth palette line, where the BG palette lies.

Electroball, copy BG deformation code from Deform_MZ, it will be better for use.

    Look at new MZ art:

This would be a really useful feature. Reminds me of Sonic Mode 1 where it would play redbook audio with vanilla Sonic 1.

That hack was a piece of shit. There's far more that can be done with Mode 1 than just CD-DA, and the init code used in that was terribly unstable and would break over petty crap. Nothing impressive at all, and looking back, there's nothing but regrets in releasing that mess when so much more could be done with it.

Yeah, it's a bit harsh, but I think tristanseifert and I have more than a bit of say over what we think of that failure of a PoC we wrote. And yes, I have no qualms with damning that hack whenever it comes up.
