Really MUCH better. Also, you should fill that dark red background with some dark yellow dots.

EDIT: Hehehe, this is the 111th of me.

    yay, 75th post! =P

Hank, that menu is much better, now that we can actually see what's on it. I'm a bit confused about the "WOOD" soundtest selection though, seems funny, "Go to the woods and type 01 09 09 02 01 01 02 04 for debug mode", I'm asuming you're changing that to SoundTest or something different? either way, looking good =)

Ahh, Thats the level select shortcut for Wood Zone, I just can't seem to make it selectable via it's own Option... (Some crazy ASM edits which are just beyond me at the moment)

I like new badniks art, it looks pretty funny.

But your title card font is almost unreadable (especially for me). And why are letters put into white squares? When I saw title card for the first time I thought it was a glitch. HUD and BG need some work as well.

Overall art changes are great, can't wait to play the hack. ;)

Sorry about that, the art was intentional, but I'll be sure to change it.

By the way the level is Shy Guys Toy Box just in case if it is too hard to read.

I liked the title card art, it has a nice olde design, but pretty hard to read which is the only let down there. I find your art is weird but not at all terrible to look at, they're fine (I'm just pleased that they're unique with style), the badniks look funny, I couldn't help but laugh.

It would be nice to see a new FG design made and a layout change, but overall, I think you're doing a good job, not particularly the style I 100% enjoy, but I can see you put actual effort into this, keep it up!

nice twist with the shy-guy port and the title cards just as markeyjester said. some parts may look like it needs a little work, but other than that, not bad ;)

I don't post here often, so I thought I should.

For those of you not in the know, I've been working on a Sonic 3 and Knuckles hack. It's a general layout/palette/few other things hack, so don't expect anything spectacular. I thought I'd share some progress here and see what people think in general.

Mushroom Hill Zone 1 with Knuckles. Going for an almost night/stormy feel

Launch Base Zone 1 at sunset. Layout is coming along nicely.

And a link to my most current video on youtube showing my Marble Garden 1 edit -

Comments and criticism are gratefully received.

Hm, these colors are a bit...Dead. You may remove these metallic changing it into some red-coloured metal blocks in LBZ... A bit of orange should be better in the MHZ. Both are not bad, but so much "Metallic". Since being like sunset. This is a bit dead.

    EDIT: Quoting for new page.

Although I agree with your logic, the problem is, only red seems to work the best, but you cannot have all levels with a sunset/sunrise theme otherwise the game becomes boring. I had a go at editing LBZ's palette once, it's actually not as easy as it looks. To create a nicely working palette that differs from it's original form, is one hell of trouble.

Trust me on this, red does not work in LBZ. I've tried a lot of colours and red metal, as good as it sounds, doesn't work with the artwork.

MHZ on the other hand is supposed to look a bit dead and dull, it's a stormy dark sky setting so those sort of colours work.

And yes, my colour choices are a bit "dead" (or desaturated, as Neo once put it), but that's the style of all the level palettes I have worked on thus far.

It's a stylistic choice and I like it. It also suits the lower in tone music I have as well.

Well no, I don't think anyone's done something like that before, I've seen close things, but not like this, and I am actually impressed with what you've done here.

Although it wasn't the best boss or even hard to defeat, I think the technical aspect behind it is something you should feel impressed for archiving, it gives a nice sense of gravity pulling the bull down faster, then having it bounce/reflect back up, this is the sort of physics you'd expect to see in S3, like for example the metalic spike ball on chain in MGZ. I think if you made the ball a bit more like the MGZ ball in terms of physics and maybe moved robotnik left/right slowly, but have robotnik moved down a little lower, and finally removed the platforms. You would have a very decent boss to play that not only has a good sense of dificulty, but is also technically brilliant too.

What you have so far is impressive, and I'm glad you are actually researching into this and trying things out, so many people don't and wonder why they're hack sucks cock, well done for archiving this, and giving a good example of "the results of research" to others who yern to learn assembly programming of any kind, and want to archive something generally awesome.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm happy as to how this turned out, but as you say its not hard and I wanted him to move left and right. To get what I did I commented a command, but in return the ball ditashed itself from eggman, so I made eggman stay in one place. I'll keep experimenting, in order to keep it attached and for him to move aswell. Thanks again.
