It's cool, looks like a monitor porting test. Nice palette, too.

There is something off about the tiles though. The alignment seems like it could be improved. Not sure how though. Any ideas?

Well I've already said about the art, so I guess you want feedback on the monitors? Oh wait nevermind I see fg. Well, the grass looks like I've seen it before, which of course isn't really a bad thing (only if it looks bad). The tiles look nice, though I get an odd feeling from it... not sure why though. And I don't know if the monitors are original or not, they look like I've seen them before so well yeah they look ok.

Basically the tiles are completely custom, and the monitors are edits from the Sonic1/2 ones. With some of my icon edits and stuff. Not much too them really.

I've had some progress in my hack, Sonic Quick Winter Adventures 2 recently.

    [IMG][IMG]

    [IMG][IMG]

I finally decided to do more graphic changes, since my hack lacked for them. The results are new title cards, signposts, level results card and redesigned pause menu (better than you could see in

). I was having a hard time when drawing these, hope you like them ^_^

Also, as you noticed, the hack has finally got an English translation. Both Russian and English languages will be present in a single ROM.

Pause Menu is now very smoothy animated. As for the title cards, they're animated too. It was my dream for a long time to create a title cards like these.

If you want to see their animations, here is a short vid: http://vladikcomper.narod.ru/download/SQWA2-VideoBonus.7z

(to play the video, you should have the Kega Video Codec)

Changing between the two languages, now THAT's a cool idea. The title card patterns look nice, oh and does the ring animate yet? =P

Wow, cool, nice to have both Russian and English and the signposts look nice.

Do you mean that ring on the HUD?

Like it's seen on the short vid I've posted, the ring is static now. To animate the ring is a nice suggestion, I'm just not sure if the animation will be suitable here. I mean, it can draw player's attention, looking like a real ring =P

But maybe, I'm wrong. So I'll animate it to see how it looks, but unfortunately, some later, when I'll have time to do so (now I have too little time to work on my stuff).

    EDIT: GRAMMAR

No problem, but it is similar to my ideas...

I modified the image on the title card, I'm creating a language select too, and also I edited a bit of the HUD.

    Anyway, good job

    Edited...

Ideas sometimes happen to be very similar or even absolutely the same. I had this thing with my own hack as well. Secretly, I've added a boss health counter to my hack, I didn't show this feature yet, so nobody knew about it. Some weeks after I had done the counter, I saw someone's posting about the same feature in his hack. Idea stealing? No. Also, if we came back in history, I guess we'd see that someone had already come with a similar idea.

That's normal. Different people can come up with the same ideas. The ideas can be the same, but the ways people realize their ideas are always different, which makes their stuff absolutely unique. Don't worry about the fact we both came up with similar ideas, our hack will be absolutely different and unique =)

Btw I saw your title cards and I can't say they look similar. The design is very different, my card appears in another way and the image is animated (Easy to notice, hey, did anybody watched my mini-video? =P )

About the title card, Im referring to change the image used. Also, I created a boss hits counter too, you can see that on Angel Hill 3 on my hack with debug mode.

Don't worry with the ideas. If steal or no (I think no =)), I always share my hack =)

I'm not going to change that circle on the title cards. This is my stuff, I've drawn it.

I haven't stolen your stuff, so I don't understand you point here. As I've seen in you hack, Sonic Alphaomega, you have very different title cards with Sonic's head as an image. The font, the appearance have almost nothing in common with mine. Only their style can be a little similar. Or I'm missing something? Correct me if I'm wrong, here is the version of your hack I have:

I still can't talk correctly... fuck my english

I said, the idea of change the image used in the title card, that's all.

But I said, I have no problems and if you need some of me, Ill always share, so don't worry =I

Anyway, I'm not against you, I just said : /

    Seriously, who gives a fuck?

Every single time someone posts something, it's either the same as your idea or you have already done it, or you have done it better. Nobody cares, this is how he wants it to be, he made a post regarding his hack, not yours. If you want to talk about your hack all the time, try showing something of it instead of boasting all this stuff with no evidence to support your claims. It's getting very old now.

He has a point you know. Honestly I agree with Stephen on the fact that no one really cares about someone having the same ideas as someone else. I mean look at me, though it may not look like it but I had ideas similar to others but I didn't go about talking and/or complaining about it. As Stephen said, if you are going to be talking about your hack more rather than actually complementing someone else's. You should do what I as well as others did and make a thread about it. On topic now, loving the new title card art you made there vlad, as well as the pause menu and the hud :). Looking foward to trying it out for mysellf when ever you can show us.

The engine seems to be a good replica of the S3K, good job.

@Blazefirelp: It looks good. I like the effect on the background. I'm not sure there's a really good reason to keep working with a low resolution though (unless it looks like a low resolution only because of the tiles and sprites). I'm not saying you should go full hd or anything like that, but a native resolution of 480 or 600 vertically wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

It looks like the physics are good for now, although it's hard to tell without playing. I really hope you'll manage to make them work like the original, most of the fan games (and unfortunately official games as well lately) I played were seriously wrong about them.

    My turn...

    I'm currently working on this:

More precisely, at this stage I'm trying to make it possible, this is only a mockup. xD

I was trying to find a good design for title cards (my current ones are so incredibly crappy I often close my eyes when the level begins) and was annoyed by the limitations, so I went crazy and did this. But I liked it. :/

Since then I'm seriously trying to optimize it as much as possible to make it work.

The megadrive's limits could be reached easily as the title card is currently made of 7 objects, counting 62 sprites if I keep it under 128 tiles (it could be less with more tiles, but that's more loading afterwards, and by "more tiles" I mean "many more").

I'll have to find some workarounds, most likely locking controls until several things disappear and not displaying the hud until then as well.

Fortunately, there should never be more than 16 sprites per line.

I'll also have to make a different, "lighter", version for lampposts, but I already have another idea for that (which should look great but wouldn't work well at the beginning of a level).

The resolution is exactly the same as the original game. Thanks also. Nice screenshot as well. I like The titlecard font.
