Rule 01. Respect fellow community members.
SSRG is about good netiquette and treating everyone on a mature and fair level. Any conflicts of opinion or personality, corrections or any other disagreement must be dealt with in a respectful way. Trolling is not tolerated under any circumstance, however sensible discussion is encouraged if there is something you disagree with or feel is inaccurate. Flaming is only permissible when done in a mature way, to properly emphasize a point, rather than simply in lieu of a decent argument.

Rule 02a. No spam.
No one liners, no pointless topics, and no posting simply to increase your postcount. Remember there is a fine line between joke topics and spam, it should be fairly obvious where that is. If it isn't, lurk and get to know the forum.

Rule 02b. This is not 4chan.
Memes can be fun in some situations, but they have no place on the forums. They are acceptable in moderation in the lounge, but simply making a post that consists of 'o rly?' falls under 2a.

Rule 03. No derailing.
Don't post offtopic if it can be avoided, simply create a new topic. If a discussion is becoming offtopic, request for it to be split by a staff member.

Rule 04. Good post quality and accuracy.
Make sure you use correct terminology, spelling and grammar when posting. Spell checker dictionaries are available for Firefox. No text speak and no huge blocks of text.

Rule 05a. Obey the law.
Please do not post anything that violates copyrights or decency laws. You may discuss things that are of an illegal nature, as this is freedom of speech, but no public links to torrents, exploits, or whatever else.

Note: Posting copyrighted SEGA code is a legal gray area, and we will be playing it by ear until we get some kind of clarification for SEGA. Only post code that is generally considered 'abandonware', no current-gen code please. If you are unsure of the legal status of your project or you are modifying a recent game, please provide a patch with instructions rather than a binary. In this case, recent would mean any SEGA game released since the death of the Dreamcast. Reverse engineering is illegal, but SEGA doesn't seem to mind. Any reverse engineering should be done in good taste, without any financial gain, and as a tribute to the creativity and ingenuity of the original developers.

Rule 05b. Pornographic and shock image policy.
Images of this type are generally not welcome here, but if you absolutely must post them, make sure they are appropriately labelled in their own individual thread.

Rule 06. Staff get the final say.
Matters can be taken up in the Suggestions & Feedback forum, however any decision is still ultimately up to the staff. One member repeatedly whining about a decision will not be tolerated.

Rule 07. It's palette, not pallet.
A pallet is a wooden frame used for lifting with forklift trucks. A palette is a selection of colours. Although you could say it was correct in the 19th century, it's not correct today. As long as computers have existed, a selection of colours on them has been referred to as palette, so technically the old spelling could only refer to a non-computerized palette.

Rule 08. Post your research in the appropriate forum.
Don't post a topic about a mod you are making on the forum unless it is substantially interesting, and adds something new to the source material. Simple palette mods and the like are fine as long as you are clear about being a beginner. We respect your need to cut your teeth on simple mods.

Also, please bear in mind: You do not have a right to be here. It's a privilege that is given by default to everyone. However, through persistent idiocy or rule breaking, this privilege can be taken away.

Thank you for reading.

Please feel free to contact any of the staff about any questions regarding rules.

Together we can make SSRG a pleasant, mature and fun community!
