Okay, I think this is the time to bring this up. Because it's getting a bit annoying now.

As you may already know, there have been a few issues that have happened recently, such as the banning/unbanning of Selbi and the Moonwalker drama. There's a severe problem in that barely any staff member is available to maintain the forums, Qjimbo really is the only one doing anything right now which really is outright stupid. A disadvantage is that staff actions are being made quickly and some are just uncalled for.

A recent example is when SeanieB posted a topic regarding Selbi's unbanning, Qjimbo trashed the topic just because Selbi contributed to the community when he really was making pointless guides, which really surprised me because I thought Jim didn't like these actions being made elsewhere. No one else was therefore allowed to voice their opinion on this matter. I just used that as an example, nothing else.

I can understand that many people are very busy and can't be as active as they can but this issue clearly needs to be sorted. There are probably other issues that could be mentioned, though I'll leave that to other members. Hopefully other people can discuss this matter as well.

Yeah, SSRG is looking to be a 'One-Man-Job', that man being Jim. The controversy of Selbi being unbanned, isn't really a problem for me. I mean, I kind of respect him now. While some people may not like him, he's not that bad. The Moonwalker thread, caused controversy with Oerg not wishing the locations to be on Sonic Retro. While I can understand this, due to his ban over there, it was childish. I mean, they're only music locations. Then a while back there was an attack on Selbi, which was completly inopropriate.

What I feel needs done, is more active staff around, and tightened rules, the attacks on people are getting out of hand now.

I'm sorry - but I feel like I helped you out a lot with this Qjimbo, and I thought you were a good friend! Hell if you hadn't met me you wouldn't be going to Canada, I'm the one who introduced you to <name removed>! and six tutorials 3 or 4 of which outright stolen or caused drama or are outright prior knowledge are poor contributions aside from the fact the guy is trying to rip this place apart and frankly I don't think that's right - I was accepted for a time here - I may not have been the best guy in the world here when I was, I admit I stepped into this long time drama between you guys and other communities and I didn't know enough about it...

Seriously, What use is a user you have banned MULTIPLE TIMES??? Honestly, this defies any perspective logic I can think of - I know I sound a lot like Tweaker or something but as you see I was a bit of a backseat admin back in the day - but I've still ran a few boards on the internet - if someone was banned on my board they would get a time baseed ban, and if they were banned again, I would make exceptions in extreme detail with either side of the argument discussing it with me if nessicary - but he has been banned nearly 4 maybe 5 times now? this is unacceptable! really! no matter what conditions facilitate it he's a troublemaker, and an idiot Who needs 'em?

Aside from other complaints - I think this poor place has dissolved into you [Qjimbo] and maybe one other persons' control - I'm sorry to say this man but you're a good friend but you're absolute shit as a forum admin if you've let this kind of shit happen to this place, really. the original SSRG guy is rolling in his bed - it's not even named SSRG anymore for god sakes, you've made this place your own community again, and you unfortunately can't handle that with a non existent staffing behind you that for all I know of has been shut out - only person that mods at the SSRG that I've talked to a bit is Metal Knuckles, and even then he really didn't understand what was going on - you have this staff and apparently you don;t inform them, you dont talk to them and for all I know the guy was just an idiot but I think this poor place has some serious problems to think over.

Really man, you're a good buddy, and I think you really owe a lot up to me to be treating me like this, dude; especially over a total idiot who wrote four tutorials - I'm learning 68k asm as we speak but I have other things in life to worry about at this time surprisingly as it is considering 99.7% of the Sonic Scene thinks I have no life - I sincerily expected you to be the last one to start trash talking me - well here we go.

unfortunately you seem to be using the vehicle of not being a good guy running a forum but you're being a hypocrite - following the example you bashed on during that Tweaker drama back when.

If it's not one thing it's another on these forums.

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but QJimbo is doing a LOT of work on here. Hacktube wouldn't exist without him.

Just because he wants to give everyone a chance, doesn't mean he's a bad admin. I've given people plenty of chances. Selbi didn't really deserve to be banned anyway.

The matter of there being no staff available, I'm constantly checking the forums, to see what's going on. Most of the time, there's nothing worthy of locking/trashing, that doesn't mean that nobody's doing their job.

Can we please stop this constant bitching now?

PsychoSk8r, if you're meaning me, then I wasn't bitching, I just stated an issue that was something worth dealing with. Yes, Qjimbo has revived this place but still, one man cannot do everything.

And SeanieB: What do you mean that stuff wouldn't exist without you?

No not you SOTI, you haven't been complaining all over the forums. I've lost count of how many topics I've read with people complaining about Selbi's unbanning.

    Seconded.

I was helping Qjimbo in the beginning, hell I found the fucking emulator in the beginning - he wouldn't have a binary of it in the beginning to get unlocked to use here.... and this skin's still based on the one I I did for the SSRG back a while ago - of which I had no mention mind you.

I don't want any special privileges here - if that's what you're thinking, fuck off - I just don't want my discussions unfairly discarded or disrespected by anyone let ALONE Qjimbo. This is why I'm not here much.

Well, to be fair, Potato emulator is relatively easy to get you hands on. I've used it myself. But the PHP & database system behind it is a hell of a lot of work, you know.

What do you expect, the staff to be working 24/7. People have lives, jobs and other things before moderating a Sonic forum. Sorry, but I've seen WAY more out of control sites than SSRG. I'm really trying to see how this will help. People will still complain, it's the internet. There will still be drama, every forum has drama.

I just feel like my contributions were a direct positive effect on the forum and represented some real time and effort on both of our parts it took me and Qjimbo a lot of searching together and I finally found the fucking thing - aside from that I just feel undermined and under represented by a community I helped out a lot when it was in the shit and I don't think it's right! my stuff gets binned for some idiot who contributed some copy paste jobs with a few lines of broken English commentary? I didn't misspell my CSS for god sakes I doubt that idiot doesn't even know what PHP is - personal attacks aside I still see my work at work here on this site today and it's fucking unfair you're standing up for this shit.

Fully understandable: it was in this state when I came back to it last year, I had no problem with it - but look at it now! by that state I mean the staff was active but inactive at reasonable times of the day - only complaint I had is the staff was all centered in the UK, meaning the times they were on and off were slanted...

The issue is not the number of staff as much as the caliber of decisions taken by the current staff. Quantity means nothing as much as quality does; if you find yourself consistently dissatisfied with the type of staff decisions being made, then your issues are with the staff members in question who made those decisions. Adding more active staff will not do anything to change that.

Personally, I think Selbi has proven more than enough times that he's a complete twat in more than one respect--banning him for weeks at a time just to unban him later does absolutely nothing to change that. Before his membership should be considered warrantable, then he needs to show improvement in behavior, not increasing hacking contributions. You can be the best ROM hacker in the world and still be a complete idiot; this seems to be the case here.

You can try and justify the decisions made all you want, but when it comes right down to it, Selbi doesn't deserve to be unbanned--not in his current state.

...I actually found the emulator by googling and came across this article on Digg. Thanks for your work on the original skin though, it is true you did the CSS and blue buttons, though they are no longer in use here.

Yes we used to talk a lot, but that doesn't mean you dictate who gets banned and who doesn't. My point with trashing the topic was that I'm sick of a lot of members on this board who do nothing but complain without even making ANY effort to improve the board. Your opinion isn't disregarded, I have just chosen not to act upon it, simply because I'm sick and tired of hearing people complain about each other instead of actually bothering to make an effort to get along with those people.

We've all been spoilt by Retro in that annoying people are often removed from the forum fairly quickly, meaning only the most adept people are left on the forum. Thats not how things work here since we stripped out a lot of the validation, and as such, this place is growing in popularity because we're no longer trying to get the cull the herd before we even have a herd to cull.

Due to this, you're going to have to put up with people you might not get along with easily, might find irritating, etc. but thats just the way it is. Put it in perspective, is it really that big of a deal ultimately?

I agree that more staff would be nice, it seems a lot are idle, but I don't really have the authority to start appointing staff, not to mention I'm not terribly good at choosing people =P

I personally think we just need more mods. I mean, Ordos is nowhere to be found, and StephenUK doesn't post as much as Qjimbo :x

I'm sure Ordos has very good reason for not being here. Real life is a big thing =P
