Is there any fairly easy way to change the order of specific levels in Sonic 1? I'm specifically looking for info on where I need to edit the ASM, and the specifics on how that should be edited...

it's a little more difficult than editing asm, m'boy, as you have to edit raw hex!

it's in misc/lvl_ord.bin, for reference, allough I'm also having trouble editing level order, so possibly we both can aquire some help.

The (in my opinion) easiest way to edit the Level order is to use a clean Sonic 1 ROM, edit it in ESEII, split it in a new disassembly and copy the misc/lvl_ord.bin to the disassembly which should have the different order. It always worked for me and I don't think you should have problems.

Well, I guess that ESEII has SOME usefulness!

...It's really nice when programs such as this allow us to avoid tons of tedious hex editing (for those who have not learned the ins and outs of it) !

To comemorate the advances in Sonic hacking further, I will go further to say that disassembly methods are, in general, incredible time savers...
