I have this really strange problem with importing the sonic 2 signpost into sonic 1 (I'm just importing sonic's side I'm not importing the full thing.) I've done this before without a problem but now I do. This is what I want [IMG]

but this is what I get

I'm doing what I did before. I load up SonMapEd I load up all the sonic 2 signpost art, mappings, palette and whatever else. Then I render the sprite frame and load it up in the sonic 1 signpost art. I loaded up the sonic 1 signpost the way I did with the sonic 2 signpost. I used the Sonic 1 (Split and Text by Hivebrain) (ASM68K) disassembly and Sonic 2 (Split and Text by Xenowhirl) disassembly. Last time I didn't have this problem that and the graphical glitch with the HUD only occurs when I load the sonic 2 sonic signpost art. What am I doing wrong? The ASM I already hacked but I never touched any thing that has to do with the signpost.

I had this same problem before to so I know what's up. you should do what I did and export the sprite frame first from sonmapED and import it back to sonmapED with the sign post file already loaded from your sonic 1 disassembly and hopefully you should have better results like I had.

Reallocate the mappings. (I don't know much on how, that's all you'll get out of me. ;))

Uhh what the fuck are you on, you're going to have to use SonMapED to export anyway, or another decompressor, and you're more likely to copy and paste. It's such tiny art anyway, so in no way is it 'lazy'

Set SonMapED's BG to something bright, like magenta, then import, SonMapED is combining colours, the transparent black one and the black one that sonic uses. Re-export, and your problem fixed?

Wrong, it can be done manually without any use of SonMapED.

Wrong, I can see where you're coming from, but I personally think you're just being an arsehole out of spite, sometimes it's best to use a tool, but just because it's best at times, doesn't automatically make you lazy, you do it your way, they'll do it theirs.

The issue here is caused by SonMapED not being able to read the transparent colour, after tampering around with it to find out why, I think the way it appears to work is...

Having the transparent colour a megadrive pink (Red 0244/Green 0000/Blue 0244), and having the first tile on the very top left, SonMapED appears to enjoy reading the transparent colour from there, once imported, you'll have to find some way of deleting that first tile (If you do not want it that is), which can be done with a hex editor, simply erasing the first 20 bytes (32 decimal).

Sorry, but I'm afraid I don't have a solution, have you tried using the Guides provided for SonMapED? If not, then you could take a look here.

I'm sorry, but what are you on? You don't seem to be engaging positively towards the issue above, and it's the second time too, do you really feel the need to be arsey because someone lacks the ability to do something?

See that "Assume Corner is Background" box? Unclick it.

Also HCKTROX, I'm not of any power, but christ, you being unconstructive and annoying really doesn't help this situation (nor does your grammar, but I'll leave that in the hands of the guys with power).

I suggest you watch it, unless you want to get banned? maybe you do for all I know. Your not really helping in this situation where as everyone else is doing there best to. As for your problem, I would try what daleksam said first and then come back if you still got a problem.

Oooooh shit, Man I should use SonMapED more lol

That would explain why it read the top left tile when I tried.

Thanks, that worked. The one thing I don't understand is that I didn't have to unclick the "Assume Corner is Background" last time, maybe it's just SonMapEd?

I said to export. You can use segadec, but that's not really exporting now is it =P.

If I remember correctly sonmaped saves those kinds of settings.....I may be wrong though
