Background is a mockup, foreground isn't. The background is still a WIP, as I plan to adjust the sky colours and add clouds.

Well I have Markey to thank for that, I was struggling to get any dithering to look good on it, but he made it look easy.

Considering the dither and detail on that statue. Doesnt it make it look like the statue base needs some more detail too, to make everything else match?

I seem to be lacking graphical ideas for a tutorial level.

So wait, isn't that just an edited version of the test level in the Sonic Worlds fangane engine? Or am I missing something?

Lately I have been attempting to keep my progress on SSD quiet. However I have hit a block in the road.

This is the leafshild I have created, and I am not satisfied with it at all. I know it's lacking but I cannot seem to figure out what to do with it. I would love some help on this piece of art.

Currently it's just a recolored S1 shield with 3 leaves rotating around it, I want the shield to have the same awesomeness the S3K shields have though.

So yeah, comments/critiques/pointers/etc. would be much appreciated.

Edit: Just a side note: this would be 1 of 3 animations. Because for everytime Sonic hit's an enemy/monitor, one leaf would dissipate.

First change I'd make: I would remove the shield base.

Second change: I would desynchronize the leaves (1/3rd each).

Third change: I would add green dots distributed such a way there would be more on the borders (possibly darker) to make the shield look round.

Fourth change: I would make it 48x48 (since you're probably loading it dynamically, you shouldn't need to limit it size like it's done in s1).

Fifth change: I would add one more animation to "create" the shield.

Thinking about it, I've never shown my remade classic shield. Here's what I mean about the animation to "create" the shield (you may have to wait for the animation to restart):

Thank you for the awesome suggestions. I have begun to work on remaking the classic shield in a similar fashion to what you have shown me. I will work on making the leaves enter at slightly different times to give it a better effect, possibly use a 4th leaf to even things up. Perhaps I will use your idea for making a "create" animation and take it a step further, making the shield faze in, then back out, while the leaves do the circling around it.

You have opened up so many ideas in my head right now. :p

Nope. But thinking about it, I can see where my idea came from though lol.

    Some more progress on my S3K hack;

I more or less redid AIZ2 from scratch after my old Youtube video showing the old layout and I'm much happier with the results.

Generic MHZ2 area where the path splits up in 2 ways.

Knuckles exploring a lower path of CNZ2. Not much more to it.

...and Knuckles taking his own unique path through the lower part of MHZ2.

I don't think I have enough new content to warrant a video any time soon but I thought I should still keep you all updated somehow. As usual, Comments and Criticism are welcome and greatly received.
