What did you like about the origianal sonic games

I was on the Sega forums looking the the topics and I found this. The topic gave me an idea to ask a similar question here. So my question is what did you like about the original sonic games and what did you like? Please don't mention the S3K barrel, I already know no one like that. Although it's easy to get around if you have super sonic. The only thing I didn't like besides the barrel is the sonic 2 music and all of sonic spinball.

 

I'd have to say the music. Some of Sonic 2's music was bland though. Another thing I liked is the special stages.

Surely the dangerous sound of Chemical Plane Zone is enough =P


I liked the characters in general, they all had a unique set of expressions for different situations like if they were hurt, hanging on a pole or if they're left standing and waiting, the one thing I could always remember, is that serious look about Sonic that shows the attitude the character was intended for. In general though, they all had an "Original Character" feel to them, similar to say Mickey Mouse, Astro boy or Felix The Cat, this also left them having a cuteness look of sorts, not to mention the anthropomorphic idea. These characters are the sort that you can love and cuddle, and being a 4/5 year old kid at the time, you do.

 

What I personally like a lot about the original Sonic games are the music, which is kinda catchy in all levels or events and the gameplay (Though, Sonic 1's slow paced gameplay isn't worth to compare with the awesomeness of speed of the games beyond this one) In Sonic 3D, i kinda loved the soundtrack, but the gameplay style isn't that good. (While the idea of flicky collecting system while killing enemies was very good) And that's my opinion.

Edit: Was a shame that Mighty and some characters aren't in a lot of games though. Sorry for posting too much!

Magic Mushrooms. =P Seriously though, I liked Spnic 3's music more than Sonic 2's. Three guesses why.

 

The Sonic 2 music didn't sound all that great I can name about two zones whose music I like death egg and chemical plant but that's about it. However I did like s3k's music. It was unique to the zone and a really good sound quality. Oh and there was a different sound director working on the music.

Or you don't know a good tune even if it hits you...*runs*. Ok enough sillyness, I kinda agree with Markey I like sonic 3k music, but that doesn't mean sonic 2 gets no love. I like the sound of them all pretty much really, I use to feel the sound of sky chase zone was a calm and cool song when I was younger.

 

Me too. Sky Chase Zone was such a good tune... I have it on my mobile phone...

 

Yep, but i prefer Metropolis Zone's song... At least in my opinion. It's catchy ;D

 

I prefer both... With Chemical Plant... I like all of them.

I like all the Sonic 3 soundtrack, and for some reason, I like the buggy games xD

Yeah. And I'm a very good tester; I discovered almost 30 bugs in Sonic 3 / K / 3K =P


And some graphics bugs in Chaotix =P (Can you explain me why this game is very unstable?)

 

Well, Dandaman955, all pirated games have got awful engine and even more awful bugs...

 

It's not pirated, just unlicensed...
