So slowly but surely I have been working on my own hack.

I did make a video about it a while ago but the idea's I had have been trashed and now something new has come about and I want to stick to it.

The downside is I don't really have the time to pour tons of effort into it (like adding completely new moves) unless I follow some sort of guide but I also don't really want to add stuff if I don't understand it and i'm not a good learner when it comes to code (well to be honest I don't know since I've not really tried).

So from me you can just expect some Graphic changes and Level layouts unless I get help from other people, but I don't think i'll really bother anyone about it :p

My vision for where I want this to go is somewhat simple. I want it to be a short hack, only about 4 maybe 5 stages long with 3 acts each stage.

The title I have come up for it so far is "Sonic Seasons".

Through each stage I want it to be based on the 4 seasons, Winter, Spring, Autumn and Summer, and for the stages to have graphics and such reflecting the season.

I am going to need to do some research on how to make same objects to appear differently in different stages (like the spikes I have as ice in the 1st stage I want to make them look different in the other stages).

So I have quite a bit of work to do but it's not like I DON'T have any time for it :p

I have an idea for the stage names to give an idea on what I want to do.

    • Winter Hill Zone (I know original right?)
    • Autumn Ruin Zone
    • Summer Sun Zone (not sure about this one)
    • and I have yet to pick one for spring since Spring Yard is already taken ;)

I also made a video showing off the 1st act of my idea (since it's the only act i've done)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW_hQJg_OBc

The list of things i've done so far are... :

    • Added a Spindash (kind of not complete yet)
    • Removed Speed Cap
    • Removed Spike Bug
    • A few other bug removes
    • Changed Sega screen to stop that god damn clashing sound
    • Changed some art work here and there
    • Made Sonic cleaner (like animations and face expressions)

Not much I know but it's a start and I am mainly posting just to get some opinions from you guys about the idea.

And sorry if I posted this in the wrong place :p.

Normally people would complain at this point now, like "BAAWWW U HAV ONYL DON PALET AND RIPED OF GUIEDS!!!111", but let me promise you, if anyone does this, he will punch himself. Why? Because it isn't true! Sure, it doesn't look like much, but I can see the effort you put in there. The "angry" sprites are pretty cool and the level layout is just awesome. Seriously, I rarly see any hacks with a cleverly designed level layout.

The ONLY thing I need to complain about: I know you hate dick-moves to death, so please explain me the situation at 1:00. =P

Hey just cause I hate them doesn't mean I don't use them ;D

Na i'm kidding, to be honest the chances of hitting those spikes are not that big, I just happened to slow down a bit too much, I will say it is a bit of a dick that they are blind spikes of course but i'll get over that after a night of HORLICKS!

Or I guess I could go change it now, haha!

Simple hacks... Ahhh, how it makes me remember the good times of the Sonic Harder Levels hack in the past. Wow! ;)

There's original layouts, some original art... Well, a promising future is here in this hack.

Wow, I didn't even notice there was a share your work section. Kinda feel a little blind and dumb now.

Thanks for the move! and the nice words ;)

So since I had 2 days off i've been working on my hack a bit. I'm too lazy to make a video and upload it so instead i'm just gonna give you the current Rom of it.

It's only the 1st stage redesigned, acts 1 to 3 and there are still changes coming to them but I want to see what you guys think of the level design. (if you like it, if it sucks and so on)

Of course this is for who choose to try it out, let's face it, i'm really making a hack for other people to play.

So if the "other people" don't enjoy it then why make it?

Well I don't think i'll be doing this much (the whole public opinion) since I know people like to play "fuller" hacks with more content in one big go rather then little updates in a short time.

I might pick a few people here and there to try privately.

So I won't count this as a "beta release" but I do want to get some feedback if you are willing to give it a go.

    some changes are :

    • Custom Spike Art to reflect season (With help from Selbi)
    • More changes to Sonic's Sprites
    • Act's 2 and 3 finished
    • Bridges have been changed (With help from Selbi)
    • And probably some other things but I can't remember

Any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated and I will change accordingly.

I don't really have much or any experience in this and I want to make sure i'm doing stuff right. ;)

Plus I made a banner for the game in my sig!

Excepted for the bridge between two walls in act 2 and the series of loops (I prefer when they aren't side by side personally), I really like the level layout so far. Maybe you could also avoid a few bottomless pits, but I didn't notice anything wrong otherwise.

Several places are really easy to recognize and remember while playing, which is a very good point for your hack.
