I second this on what dan said about the layouts. also from what I saw, I think you should work on fixing the object positions a little more next time (at least thats my opinion anyway).

It's a bit better. But here's what I see about them:

1.- In your hack, they are linear. Sonic games usually have 2 paths to get through the level.

2.- No loops? And there are barely slopes.

3.- How is it that the Island is floating on the air? Fix the broken chunks.

It's still NOT that bad, but it needs a lot of work. Good luck!

Yes. I've seen that I missed the objects a few pixels, but now I am working on EHZ 2 in SonED 2.

For the first time in my life I've got a Game Over in less than 2 minutes in a Sonic hack. What the... (!?)

This layout is in VERY NEED of improvement. This isn't that bad, I must agree. But, dude... start out by remove that badniks at the begin of the level, please. That was the worst point I noticed in this hack. You must add a bit more of floor, this giant stuff of falling area makes your game boring. And also, where are the loops? I didn't see there. Please remove these lots of falling areas so give to Sonic some free space for run. Sonic loves speed, we know... So a Sonic game needs speed areas.

I know, it's hard, but I passed it, I will improve it a bit in the next demo.

BTW How to make working loops in SonED2?

Add the loop to your zone in the layout editing mode, so put the mouse over it then press the space bar.

Dude, read the SonEd2's internal manual. This is easier than post as a question on a forum. :)

    Edit: Fixed the wrong quote.

Seriously, people should learn to make levels without loops, they're only there to hide the lack of gameplay elements or to make fast levels that require little to no reflexion or skill. It can be interesting after or before a difficult sequence in the game, but they definitely aren't necessary to make a good level.

Yeah, this is a interesting point on this discussion. We can see some great levels that doesn't have loops, we can take Marble Zone and Scrap Brain Zone as examples. But if you look on them with attention, you see no poor layouts. Because the layouts there are pleasantly organized for make them awesome, then another important points noticed in other levels aren't discarded on them... Like a decent object positioning.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the layout for it's precision jumping and it's "challenge" factor? I "WILL" be honest with you, I actually enjoyed playing this one, the chunks are oddly placed in one or two areas, and the object positioning can be immensely irritating (Hell I came out of a special stage only to be attacked by a coconuts). But it was challenging, and it was fun, and didn't look like a complete piece of shit compared to what I've played before (Seriously, I still have copies of those hacktube hacks compressed in a rar file somewhere and compared to this, they suck arse).

Still room for improvement though as always, I just felt I had to express a bit of love considering.

The new version crashed on me near that part. >:

The levels really aren't my idea of fun. there's little room for maneuver and I'm always finding myself getting hurt and bouncing back into a pit.

    Unless you're making a Sonic 2 harder levels :3

I know, it crashes when you start the game from that checkpoint. Unfortunately, I don't know how to correct that bug. Maybe deleting the checkpoint and Coconuts...

And yes, I am making Sonic: 2 Hard. (2 like too, not two.)

What?? Harder Levels?? Did I read HARD in the topic's title?? Hm... very nice for a difficulty games lover like me. :)

I was in search for a challenger during all these years. I hope to be you the one, MicroChirp. In any case, keep up improving your stuff!
