I was trying to make some music to my hack by myself, and I decided to try Xm3smps/oerg. I ran it in Windows 7, I don't know if it is actually causing the problems...

    The problems are

1)- Every time I try to convert the song, the program crashes and it doesn't convert.

2)- Sometimes, when I use the Rob Jinnai's voice previewer it doesn't close when I press the escape button.

Is there any solution to this? Sorry if this was a really obvious problem.

You could try running it in Windows XP compatibility mode.

This sounds like a common problem. What do you use to convert your midi's to xm? If you have modplugtracker, try an older version as newer versions tend to cause xm3smps/xm4smps to crash on conversion. I also tend to use puto's xm4smps, because one day oerg's editor decided to stop working completely and I also have windows 7 so I stick with xm4smps.

I'm having a similar problem actually. But my XM3SMPS/Oerg crashes only when I'm trying to save my song in the ASM format. The program saves a .BIN without any trouble, but when I try to save it in the Cinossu's .ASM format, I get this error: '#53 File not found' then the program crashes and closes automatically when I click OK.

Actually the solution that rika_chou metioned worked and the app works perfectly, thank you very much. :)

Interesting, though, as I use the program on Windows 7 myself (and fun fact: I wrote it on windows 7 too :S)

But yeah, nice that it works now :p

Sorry for the nine months bump, but I still have problems...

I tried with Rika's solution but it sadly was temporary. Applying Windows XP service pack did help, but after some weeks it stopped working, so I gave up. Today I tried again with no dice. I also tried with xm4smps if I could do something and I couldn't, even with newer versions. I don't know if it is my PC or what. Are there other SMPS conversion programs available that can work with Windows 7 with no frustrating problems?

Sorry if I sound annoying, I just want to play and practice with music.

EDIT: What I didn't mentioned is that I have exactly the same problems with xm3smps and xm4smps crashes when I try to load any x3v file to load the instruments.

You can create your instruments in TFM Music Maker (you can preview and tweak the sound of them easier in this program anyway), xm4smps will import the .tfi instrument format no worries. Might work if it's just the x3v format it's choking on.

Well xm4smps only loads x3v files. Might try again though.

I didn't thought on that. I will try this right now.

EDIT: It seems that sometime xm3smps oerg works and sometimes, I found a solution if this happens though. Thanks in advance for your attention dudes. :)

EDIT 2: Oh no! I accidentally pressed the reply button instead of the edit button. The other post I made is useless, feel free of trashing it and sorry for this.

Wrong, look again. If that statement were true, I wouldn't be able to port my music over to my hack =P.

Well I don't know how you can >.< By the way, like I've said I have found a way to import music. Thanks for the help, though.
