I made some mods to my Sonic 1 hack and now Sonic can jumpdash and spindash. Sonic Reinvented has now officially been bumped up to version 1.0. Sonic's sprites and the monitors look like those of Sonic 3. Other than that no major changes, but what's a guy to do? Since after this I only have two more posts before I go into Limbo, here it is.

Yes indeed, YOU added these moves and also the graphics. You probably also wrote S1 Hacking Studio yourself and expect to become a Tech Member on Retro soon. </sarcasm>

    You lose, try again.

Do not submit this to the archive again. At it's current state it's nothing to write home about.

If you have used any program to assist you with this, you should be crediting them. Don't fucking claim shit as your own doing.

Yes, indeed. I would like to credit Vladikcomper's Sonic 1 Hacking Studio and Hivebrain's 2005 Disassembly. Also for versions 0.x I would like to credit the Sonic 1 SVN Disassembly. Sorry for not mentioning this before.

Now here's a question, why didn't you credit them in the first place? This should be common knowledge damn it.

Possibly because there's nothing he did himself, apart from minor changes like changing speeds. He would've made obvious that he didn't do anything himself (even though he did it anyway by using S1 Hacking Studio).

I actually agree with HCKTROX, it does seem a little forward...

On topic, the hack is far from complete, in fact it lacks everything really, as it is, you've only got a single level's palette change that is even yours. You will want to consider producing a lot more work before sharing it, or you'll be highly criticised and not be treated with respect.

Markey Jester's got the right idea here mate. I'm willing to give you advice and ideas to help you improve on things, but you have to do the improving if you know what I mean?. As said before, don't do updates when there minor, just wait and build up lots of progress in your hack. And if your not sure, get someone to beta test it for you and let them give you feedback on it. I'm sure you don't mean to do it and intentionally annoy some of the members here, trust me your not the first.

When throwing somethings together from guides and tools, you are bound to be Criticized, because they want you to show them what you can do with your own knowledge and understanding. Try to come up with ideas than haven't been used in a hack.(I'm sure we've heard this over and over) When you have a large amount of progress done mainly by you, then show us with screenshots or a video. You don't have to immediately think you have to release a beta, we won't be hard on you.(I hope)

I just hope you read, and learn things in order to gain respect and gain people's interest in your hack. I am in no way someone who knows it all, but I have a bit of advice I think will help you here, so best of luck heeding wisdom as it is posted.

I agree with you guys, this hack is far from being released publically. It has some changes but the layout is the same 20 year old one. Keep working on it.

Before that, there's a rule that don't allow hacks like this? if yes, what is that rule?

While it's not a set rule yet, it was part of the entrance test, before it got disabled:

The correct answer is a. This topic here clearly represents the answer b though.

Ah, then, add that to the rules list. Watsonman has no idea about that. Also, it's not the showroom. =X

Until a "proper" showroom opens, this will be the official showroom. So yes, it is.

Ok, nice to know. Anyway, if that was telled before, you may have this "problem" avoided.

Not necessarily, it all depends on whether said user followed that rule, and all the rules for that matter. If they didn't, then well problems still persists. You just hope that people abide by the rules, they ready and make sure that they understand the consequences etc. But unfortunatley not everybody does.
