I don't get it. I'm not seeing any major differences, just plain, vanilla ReadySonic.

I don't get it, what is supposed to be different here? It just seems like a clean readysonic. Also I don't get why people use it, its a lazy way to start a hack IMO.

Well, I had to start somewhere else, instead of just doing funny music hacks every time. As someone else said "You clearly have some basic knowledge about SMPS, so why don't you try to make actual music instead of the hundredth hahaha-oh-so-funny sound corruption hack?" Sure, I will try to port custom music to a hack, regardless of whether or not it sounds correct

I understand that we all have to start somewhere, but you must understand where the confusion is coming from. ReadySonic is set up in such a way that all you have to do is change some values from 0 to 1. Without any other changes, your hack is the equivalent of clicking on some checkboxes and running build. Stuff like this would be better kept unreleased until more aspects have been changed. Like, I'm trying not to come off as offensive, but what real differences have you offered that I could not have found from the default rom that comes with ReadySonic?

It's pretty challenging in the cheap way and some objects aren't connect to the chunks in the way they should be, Having no rings doesn't do anything but make me die more and make me get a game over quickly and also make me try to go as slow as possible so I don't get hurt by an enemy. This level design is unacceptable for even a Mario game. I recommend using the many guides found on the internet for better level design.

Also, this is just my opinion but GHZ is probably the worst level to edit in any Sonic game due to it not allowing much customization.

Just to touch up on what Project1114 said, you can have those oddly connected chunks as long as you end them with object 44. And about some guides, I've been sent one by MarkeyJester which has helped me a lot with making my hack. (Well, GHZ anyway...)

Hope this guide helps! And good luck with your hack!

Now time to submit my mini-hack!

The checksum on that ROM is broken. Run it through "fixheadr.exe" and it'll work in more emulators.

Onto the actual hack, then! It's really good! I enjoyed playing it a lot. Probably because I really enjoy the Sonic 1 bosses, but that's not the point. One thing I noticed is that some of the backgrounds aren't there. Not sure why that is happening. But, cool mini-hack!

This is a Streets of Rage 1 hack, and is about as 'random hack' as you can get. I modified one of the enemies to give Adam's unused battle cry when they attack (more specifically, the ninjas).

This is a Sonic 1 hack that contains a Yellow hedgehog and this hack isn't that easy cause rings are really rare!

The checksum's incorrect. Being a mobile emulator-using peasant without a checksum autofixer, I can't play it.

Cool! I was considering doing something similar (I've had super tails in my hack for a long time), but I'm glad to see it happened, regardless. Tails needs more love :>

This hack is just a weird-looking yellow Sonic alongside weird-looking yellow badniks with crappy level design. To take screenshots to point out the flaws would take too much time.

Act 2 actually looks quite a bit more changed, but it's full of badly placed enemies and spikes, dick moves, blind jumps and cutoff tiling everywhere. If this were in it's own topic, all it would need is stolen coding then it'd probably be up there with the hack of shame. I didn't find this entertaining enough to play through to Marble Zone, but did get up to the boss to see if there was anything changed.

Act 3 is nothing worth talking about, but once you get to the boss the layout is slightly changed, but just so you know placing badniks in Robotnik's 'boss arena' will cause their graphics to become garbled once Robotnik actually appears. The swinging platforms is a nice idea though.

Also, I took a peek at Marble Zone and it appeared that nothing was changed but, of course, the rings being deleted.

This hack kind of takes the essence of what Sonic was made for and throws it in the trash can, as everything in this hack kind of goes against the main point of Sonic - going fast. In Sonic games once you pick up some rings you're like 'alright, now I got some rings I can go fast. If I get hit, that isn't so bad because I can just pick some rings up again, but if I'm trying to go to the special stage then I'll be a bit more careful with where I'm going' but due to there being no rings, you always have to watch out and it kind of makes the levels pretty boring due to similar level design, and these were levels that were designed to let you go fast.

Oh, and one thing I forgot, making a hack with your 'recolor the original character' starring in it never gets good reputation, even when it's a decent hack.

Next up in the 'authentic hax' series, Sonic 1 REV01 in Sonic Classics! I also fixed the bug that causes SBZ's palette cycle to fail.

(If a Razor & Zenon video of this pops up... I give up.)

It's nothing big happening in this hack. All Bosses have been modded. Green hill and Marble is easier then thier counterparts but then the rest is harder!

The layouts AROUND the bosses have been modified, not the actual bosses themselves.

GHZ boss layout just have swinging platforms, with everything behind a waterfall. MZ boss layout just has rising platforms with moving spikes that don't have proper graphics. SYZ boss layout just adds bumpers and a couple falling platforms. LZ boss layout wasn't modified at all, SLZ boss layout has bottomless pits, and FZ boss layout has a different beginning, but at the actual boss, only a couple spikes were added.

I was rather disappointed that the bosses weren't actually modified, but instead, just the layout, and even then, they're small changes, and it didn't make much of a difference to the difficulty, in my opinion.

Hello, i want to show a mini hack. I think the bosses in Sonic 1 are too easy. (The hardest is labyrinth, and even this is not that hard.)

    I'll show you today...

Sonic 1 - Better Bosses Version

The Green Hill Zone, Marble Zone, Spring Yard Zone and Star Light Zone's bosses turned better and harder to have a better challenge.

Before someone says, i stole the idea from someone, nope, i just didn't. I just maked the bosses harder, and better. CaveQuest just only modded them.

V2 is in the works. Bugfixes and some other little things.

    But first, download!
