Um well... it's a tad bit better than your Sonic 2 hack but... the object and ring placement is still all over the place in this hack as well. Also how come all the chaos emeralds are in one special stage and Final Zone and the SS music doesn't load? Also what happened to GHZ3's background? Finally you can't just place badniks in any given level, each level has their own PLC and a place in the vram to load the proper graphics for the badnik... If you want to port badniks you need to use a dissasembly, find free vram space within the level, assign the art to said vram address. Using ESEII isn't going to get you far... :\

the music in the special stage and Final Zone  is disabled. and reason why i had  all chaos emeralds in 1  special stage is because other  special stages kept massing up and sometimes won't  load. by the way i find esell very useful and i can move objects around. i will use a disassembly in for my next hack. the background in green hill act 3 don't load because sonic was moved towards the end of the level and some how it massed up the background and made it disappear

What... I looked at your video, it does look good without the zone text on it, but, what I think is shit is the floating boxes? A free life? The layout doesn't feel like a sonic hack. The rings in the special stage have a black shine on it, which, is pretty lame, but, what's even more lame is that, there is only one special stage, as you get all the emeralds all in one go. Act 2 has... Floating tiles? Oh, it's just garbled tiles. So shitty! Act 3 has no background whatsoever, and the boss occurs at the beginning, kinda Sonic 4 styled besides the fact that the is NO act 3. by the way, do you suck at the boss? You died once. *looks at level select* What!? 3 fucking zones? This is abysmal! Star Light. ...No. Just no. This is just bland. Marble. Again, bland. The first part is just- *sees Buzz Bomber attacking Sonic* WHAT?! Dick moves suck ass! *Sees garbled enemy* No skill at all. Anyway, this game is horrible. I'm hearing a thunderstorm right now, which clearing tells me that this hack sucks. You should start taking lessons from Sonic Retro. Here: http://info.sonicretro.org/SCHG_How-to:Guide Now get your ass thinking.

Verdict: This hack is just horrible, puting some of the worst game glitches ever, just from watching the video.

Score: 1/10. This hack is abysmal for the shittiest level design ever. If you were going to post this for the Hacking Contest, the judges would cringe because this game sucks.

I actually enjoyed it a bit, although some stuff is broken. You seriously should take a look at MarkeyJester's guide on how to design levels, because it doesn't make any sense that for example spikes and monitors float above the grass.

Also come on, everybody... Everyone has started like that.

Same as before, I'm going to give you criticisms on how to improve. Firstly, well done! The layouts play much better than the Sonic 2 hack you made (still buggy, at 4:47 for instance), and the palette isn't terrible either, although I do have a problem with the first SLZ you showed being too 'hold right to win!', and most of the levels being barren. There are still object placements that can be fixed, although GHZ act 1 isn't that bad. I know you said you have problems working with the object placement, but there is absolutely no need to release your projects in an unfinished state. This is a tip I want you to take into consideration; You do not want to kill the overall experience with a poor release by rushing your project out when you haven't finished your work. Otherwise you should expect reactions like in your past thread. If there is one criticism I have to give based on your GHZ act 1 object placement, it's the overabundance of goodie monitors. These things are to be rewarded through exploration, take for instance the original Sonic 1's GHZ triple ring monitor and shield. Sometimes they were subtle and hid them in palm trees as well. Since your layouts are linear, the one thing you don't want to do is give them free invincibilities and speed shoes on the path they take, making collection inevitable. In MZ1, you essentially gave them 50 rings, which if you're going to throw on the main path, offers absolutely no incentive to look around and explore. With advice on your special stage layout, it's fine, although it is primarily empty. If you want the walls to glow, you might want to find the right block on the editor you use. BTW, NEVER use bumpers as platforms/structures, use walls. It's unbearably frustrating to deal with special stages with platforms that bounce you around, which you need to travel on to progress. Personally, I think it is a horrible design choice. Stick to walls.

Like before, please take these comments into consideration.

Out of curiosity, what program are you using for level design; SonED2 or SonLVL? If the former, use the J and M keys to toggle the snap-to-grid object placement size, it'll make it easier to place objects properly. I'm sure SonLVL has something similar (if not, why not!)

Also, don't just start a new hack because people don't like it; work at it, improve it, and prove everyone wrong.

He's using Esrael Sonic Editor II, not a disassembly.

Well there's your problem then! Get a nice clean Sonic 1 disassembly, SonLVL and SonMapED. Open the green hill graphics and change the colours so you can see how it looks instantly.

You're forgetting that if he's still having trouble getting a solid ground to work on with ESEII, then a disassembly will not help him. Now you will just have the exact same problems, but a shitload of ASM questions in the Basic Q&A.

You know i already tried  a disassembly before and the programs i downloaded for the disassembly won't load . ok know some people only trying to help by telling me that i need to disassembly but it doesn't work. i just need to get the disassembly to work for my next hack and i swear that its going to be the same type of level layout. my level layout ideas are rubbish and i have looked at other hacks that have things i won't be able to do.

and no im not having trouble  getting solid ground to work

I will do better for my next hack

You can always check out the split disassembly guides that are aviable in Retro. There's also a guide on how to set-up one.

I was bored and decided to make a better palette based off of what you had for GHZ.

If you were going for a nighttime look this still isn't want it should look like, but like I said, I based it off of what I thought you were going for. Also FYI, in your palette there was too much black and looked like shit.
