I can port the PSGs from whatever JoenickROS is using, if you want.

Don't worry I sent him an update, it's not the underwater PSG anymore, or whatever you want to call it, DACs been improved too.

Excuse the minor video glitches near the parts with the trap door.

I want to make up for yesterday when I was being an asscake and an idiot who accidentally uploaded their souce code by giving you an update on my plans for development and a few screenshots.

    • I'll be making sure every single art file has been changed in some way, whether it be making the ring shines in the special stages shinier or giving things like Burrobot and Ballhog a new look.
    • ALL of Frantic Factory Zone will be complete. Act 1! Act 2! Act 3! I might post an update before I work on what's left (Final, Credits, ect.).
    • I might spruce up Molten Madness Act 2 and Crystal Cave Acts 2 and 3 a bit. I think MMZ Act 3 is good as it is besides the part before the boss.
    • I'll fix any problems you guys have with the current release, so point out any flaws, and I'll try to work my magic!

If you observe my beautifully-crafted diagram, you can see me, represented by some fishy hipster alien that probably says nyeh alot, working my aforementioned magic on Sonic Zoom.

    Now, some screenshots of progress:

See, I wasn't full of crap! Anyway, I'll be a bit busy working on this, so until next time...

What, no. I don't mean I'm leaving the forums until the next update. I just won't be posting in this topic for a while.

I can't help but feel with the cartoon style you're going for that Sonic and enemies would benefit from having glowing white eyes inside dark areas. Get that working and that would be a neat touch.

That idea is great, but the palette kinda restricts it. I'm thinking maybe I could make a few of the robots that use Sonic's palette have yellow eyes, since that's the only color not darkened.

Here's a idea for FFZ's theme: Robotnik has a metallic base, full of defenses, Flying saws that want to kill you, Falling platforms across huge gaps as a punishment if you're not quick.

I LOVE MegaGWolf's videos, and he did one about Sonic Zoom! It's almost completely positive!

okay, I downloaded the rom from the OP. I tried retroarch, kega fusion, and gens, and they all just simply spat up a red screen when I try to load it. Am I doing something wrong? sorry if I'm acting noobish right now, I don't play sonic hacks often, but I've been able to play .bin hacks before without a problem like this.

edit: and sorry about the bump, this was gonna be a post with detailed feedback and my experiences with the game, but I dunno how to run it. :I

The ROM seems to have an incorrect checksum, so it is left for LooneyDude to fix. On Kega, there is an option to fix it, but I'm not sure on the other emulators

Woops! Turns out the link in the OP isn't even the latest version. :p I can play it now.

so I start up the game, and wow megagwolf's video did not do it justice, these graphics look absolutely beautiful. Everything feels so nice and fresh. The music is not helping matters, oooo the music. I entered the special stage, and well, good choice of the music from Sonic Pocket Adventure. Good choice. However, a running theme seems to be it'd rather just bounce me all around and waste my time rather than letting me get to my destination (I'm not one to talk though, I only did 3 of the stages). Alright, speed highway, Act 2, let's go- oh, it's already over? But that was only 0:26? aww. Act 3- boss already? But that was only 0:26 again? aww. Yeah these levels are short. Very sweet and fun levels mind you, but short. Most of these bosses are pretty creative, except for crystal cave. Seriously, there's zero challenge there. Put some spears in there or something.

I DID decide to use the level select and try out Frantic Factory, and act 1 was just some objects missing (with a unique backround, mind you) and act 2 was completely unchanged, and act 3 was just broken. The boss had a longer hallway, and the sparks that shoot at you were quicker, but that was it. Nothing with frantic factory is an issue, it's obviously not meant to be played yet. The Sonic 1 ending was still there, and it was also broken, however, sonic was able to get to the end of the sequence without dying anyway.

overall, this was a pretty great hack, and I'd absolutely love more from it in the future.

I think you can put in spoiler? Because for some people, that can lag a bit with many videos.

    Sonic Zoom is awesome!

The Special Stages are nice! Cool that you changed them.

The bosses are not changed, but the area where you fight them. (I like this jump and roll boss in Hetic Highway.)

    Now, to the zones:

    Glazed Grass:

I like that you used Super Mario music in it. The layout is for me perfect. The background is very nice. This zone is just perfectly. The boss fight is diffculter, because you must try to Spin-Dash the way to the boss. Nice!

    Hetic Highway:

Speed Highway in 16 bit style! The layout is awesome. It became my favorite zone. The boss fight is quite simple, you must jump and roll with the springs to hit the boss. The boss is shooting spike balls. That makes this boss a little bit diffculter. The background is nice too.

    Casino City:

The music is perfect for this. Nice pinball traps, great layout. The boss is even difficulter, because he tries to hit you with his spike and below are many platforms, who will fall when they are touched. Interesting. Background looks like a city at night. Awesome!

    Crystal Cave:

This level is unfortunately short. But it had great layout, and nice fitting music. The boss is easier then the normal labyrinth boss, but its the alpha/beta-version of the boss. I think it will become harder. Crystals and a dark night are fitting the background.

    Molten Madness:

Mecha Green Hill Music is awesome! Also i like the background and the layout. The Boss is difficult, because you have only one platform to stand, left and right are shooting fireballs in the air and Robotnik want's to hit you with fireballs. I like it.

As you can see, this hack is very awesome and I am watching forward for a full release.

I don't mean to sound like a backseat moderator here, but if a thread is nearly a month old, it's not a good idea to post in it.

    1) It hasn't gone a month yet since the post before.

    2) He gave a detailed post, rather than a "I love this hack" only sentence.
