Not bad so far, the trees need a little more depth to them but its coming along ok. The leaf sticking out on the right seems a little out of paces, maybe make it in the same direction as the tree leaves and it does look odd with them overlapping like that. I would personally remove the leaf underneath. I'm liking the BG, a suggestion, where the forest ends to me seem off, I would extend it and have it just replace the whole bottom half of the screen(Basically replacing the water at the bottom since you have it above), but that's just my opinion.

The little islands, perhaps design them so they are a little wider, like other Sonic games they have, or change the design because as they are the GHz parts don't look right because of how they are used personally anyways. Keep it up, I like what I'm seeing so far.

OK, I'm gonna go into more detail about what I think, just so people don't assume I don't like it, since I only covered t briefly before. The colors are GORGEOUS, especially the sky. I see there's a dark red tint to the foreground. I love perceptual colors! I don't see many palettes do that. The bush and (especially) the cactus fits in almost flawlessly with the Sonic 1 art style, and the mixture of the different level backgrounds to make yours has been executed perfectly! As for some of the actual gimmicks I see, I notice that the Caterkiller may behave like those Sandworms from SK/S3K/Whatever. The Fire Orbinaut looks really interesting, too! I also noticed a small fire burst coming out of the lava, and all these things are making me excited to try this game!

EDIT: So I found out the cactus isn't entirely new.

EDIT 2: OH MY GOSH IT'S THE GHZ TREE SHAFT!

EDIT 3: And the bush's origins:

The bubbly parts are used in the bush.

This screenshot pulled me out of lurk-mode. That background makes even the marble zone foreground feel fresh.

Needless to say it looks great, and it's very inspiring; makes me want to open up SonED2 for the first time in forever.

Glad you guys like it! NFB had a great idea to start with and it was a lot of fun working with him. And I love that LooneyDude took the time to figure out what I used for the desert plants! :)

So I have been working on a sonic hack for a very long time, and I just had to restart due to my computer  being a 64bit system.

So instead of restarting it on sega geneisis/mega drive I ported it to the Sega CD

Anyway here is my first Sega CD video (Youtube screwed up the colors)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPQ5lJTRG98&list=UU595aTsMmIDD5IW703IuPhw

For Download of Genesis version (Has spindash, double jump for sonic, jumpdash for scourge, play as scourge by press B on title, I did his own pallet animations, everything) and for more info

    Clickey Here: http://www.sonicgamesdimension.net/index.php/Thread/197-Sonic-North-Island/

here is a screenshot for correct colors :p

This looks like its bleeding with potential! I look forward to playing it later!

Note: Shouldn't this be moved to its own topic?

Gosh. Why now is there a sudden jump in interest for hacks on the SEGA CD?

I'm not complaining, but it seems strange that all of the sudden, more people want to do it. :p

A Sega CD port seems useless if you're only gonna use it for the mp3s, and the godawful loading times, just from my prospective.

Just a word of advice: try to limit the amount of public updates you make. It can be a bit hard to control yourself on this stuff, but nearly every new hacker falls into this trap (I just got out of it). You don't need to follow this if you don't want to, but it makes your updates look a lot better if you wait and add more features before making a new release. Not that I'm not excited for them, of course :3

Cool concept Mr. Cat! Here's a couple underwater palette ideas for one of the stages in our yet to be named game.

This is all I have so far and we haven't made an above water palette yet but this is Acropolis Zone
    [IMG]

It's always hard to decide on a palette.. But LooneyDude came up with a great idea of doing what Ristar did and making it so the deeper you are in the water, the darker and more blue-ish the palette gets. If we do that then we'll probebly add more in-between palettes.

A small adjustment to the zone's palette, and the oval was replaced with a new bar.

Added Knuckles as a second character, has his original animations and sprites, and his super form. It's almost finished, I just need to add his gliding and climbing techniques.
