My mod for the 2011 Re-release of Sonic CD (Steam/PC Ver), replaces all traces of Sonic to Metal Sonic. other changes include robotic voice samples, Sonic CD 510 Prototype Titlescreen theme for the JP Soundtrack,
and 2 new hidden messages, see if you can find them yourself. This mod has no gameplay enhancements. This is also the first ever full character hack of Sonic CD.

Very small chance that I'll consider hacking the original Sonic CD 1996 PC port.

Special Thanks to Xeeynamo for helping me deal with sprite collisions/sizes, without him, I would've cancel this project sooner or later due to slightly missing pixels for a few animations.

Personally, I think this would be more exciting for me if I had the PC version of Sonic CD 2011 (I've got the Xbox 360 version and the Android version from Amazon, but my tablet has some issues with it, but I'd had no issues with it sideloaded onto my Ouya).

Any word on a Sega CD version?

I have replaced the data file with the Metal Sonic in Sonic CD data file but when I play the game it goes to Sonic CD and not Metal Sonic in Sonic CD.

Edit: Nevermind! I got it working. And my god. This looks great. Will record a full playthrough of it soon.

Now replace Robotnik with Tails and Metal Sonic in SSZ with Sonic and it'll look a lot better (as in, it'd make sense alongside the other games). Robotnik fighting Metal looks weird, and I'm not keen on the other Metal in SSZ.

Still no decent hacks of the original Sonic CD, though =P

No but seriously, will download this later when I can actually be arsed to download Sonic CD's re-release (pretty sure I already own it).

Even if that's suppose to be sarcasm, Talis will look awkward with the eggmobile and etc, Sonic will also look awkward as a generator and with Metal's attacks (rolling to represent charge electricity animation?) adding frames will also cause collision glitches for some reason. until there's ways to add/change programming (*cough* Jumpdash, Inhaling, etc), there won't be a update.

No SEGA CD port unfortunately, as of now at least.

Sadly, I don't own the PC version of the Sonic CD remake, so unfortunately, I can't play this. (Unless I happen to get it sometime in the future.)

Awesome work though, you rock dude. ;)

What about the iOS and Android versions?

And if you (or someone else) can pull off an Android version, perhaps an Ouya version.

I don't see how any of my original post could be interpreted as sarcasm, it was a legitimate suggestion. Tails may look awkward in an eggmobile, but who said you had to put him in one? With some art modifications you could make the bosses look like something Tails has designed rather than the original eggmobiles. After all, in the later games Tails did create his own mechs. As for replacing the other Metal with Sonic, I was thinking along the lines of using the spindash and/or peelout to replace the attacks, but without taking the time to look I wasn't sure how many frames they used. I'm sure in SCD both attacks use multiple frames, enough to convert them into other things, although in the 2011 version they may use a mask for the electricity rather than integrating it as part of the sprite. I haven't looked so I wouldn't know.

If Darkon doesn't mind, I tried my hand at porting this to Sonic CD iOS. I'm not sure if the Android version or Ouya version use a different format, but you could certainly try it.

Oh yes, please do an Android port! I'll actually be able to play this and give criticism then! (If I buy the Android version, though it doesn't cost that much.)

Your a lot better at beating Metal Sonic (3.0) than me :p

I'll try it out soon hopefully, this looks awesome!

EDIT: It worked for me, and it looks amazing. This is possibly the first EVER mod for Sonic CD 2011! I did find the spin dash wasn't changed I believe but meh, that didn't bother me much. Amazing work Darkon! As usual!

I played this a few days back. It was great! I was recording a video of this but half way through I took a break and stopped the recording then when I got back I forgot to start it up again. Oh well, This hack/mod was really cool so I will be more than happy to re record! The only think I don't like about this hack is the "Yes!" that Metal Sonic says. It does not sound robotic at all, It sound more like a deep version of normal Sonic saying "Yes!". Still a great mod though.

I've thought about Tails' custom mech before but here's one small nitpick, Bad Futures at default, Also, why and how would Sonic fly and kidnap Amy in Collision Chaos Act 1? Even with Tails flying through spikes for the rescue (via jetpack?) it'll look weird. Metal Sonic boss has 2 frames of each animation, Sonic takes double more plus 5 frames for rolling. I might consider having a Sonic&Tails as a boss for a newer and bigger project very soon (less likely anyway).

File seems too large for a android (Sonic CD apk is 759KB), not sure about Ouya but I assume it's also too large. (I also don't own those "consoles")

    Speaking of IOS.

About the voice sample, I've try soo hard, and got soo far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter. childsplay at using Audacity pretty much. I think you also forgot to mention the 3-min suicide gameover part too.
