    Hello, all. Chris here.

I've been meaning to try out some new hacks i downloaded, but seeing as i ma at a relative's house, i am using my laptop's Genesis emulator, Gens Plus. However, every time i try to open a ROM, the emulator crashes to a black screen and i must Ctrl - Alt - Delete my way out of it. As this only started happening today, what did i do? Here's a list of my recent actions:

    1. Changed the file name Gens Plus was located in from "Chris's Stuff" to "Chris's Sonic Stuff".

    2. Added the 32x and SCD Bios files to the program.

    3. Tried out Metal Sonic Hyperdrive for about 15 minutes.

    4. Added some new ROMs to GP's" Roms" folder.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm completely stumped as to why any of thest actions would screw up my favorite emulator. Any help is appreciated.

Just a hunch. The bios seem like the only candidates capable of crashing the emulator, some emulators have a "Genesis/Mega Drive" bios slot, specifically for checking the ROM contains "SEGA" or " SEGA" in a specific place in the header, before displaying the "Produced by or under license from SEGA enterprises LTD" screen and switching to the ROM. Did you give it SCD or 32x's bios by mistake?

I plugged the SCD & 32x bios into their respective slots in GP's Configuration screen.  It does have a Genesis bios slot, but i leave it empty on both of my computers, and my home computer is having no problems at all running GP.

Now that i think of it, the SCD & 32x bios are configured correctly on my home PC, and Gens Plus runs all three systems fine. Geez, this is annoying.

Have you considered using other emulators such as Kega fusion or Regen? gens is good for simple things such as recording videos and stuff like that, but other than that, gens plus IMO was never really the best.

Gens Plus has been outdated since forever. Use Gens/GS.

Looks like a good idea right about now, Spanner. Thanks!

UPDATE: Well, shit. No matter what emulator i try, they all crash. Looks like it just doesn't want to cooperate. Old thing.

I don't really know anything else to say other than to check for any programs that may be keeping them from working properly. I know it's not much but that's about the only other thing that I could think of.

Just gonna put this out there...

    NEVER use Gens.

Gens' emulation is the least accurate and tends to slow down a bit.

Kega Fusion or Regen would be MUCH better options.

Well, Baguma, to give credit where credit is due, Gens/GS escapes your statement easily. It is pretty much the only Gens version that doesn't suck. In fact, it's my primary emulator both for developing and playing, and I'd consider it to be on par with at least Fusion.

    Then again, preferences.

Well, just installed Gens/GS on my home PC for a little test run, and I will say this: It's my new default emulator. Gotta say i agree with Selbi here.

Meh, I've only used Gens+ and Fusion so I guess my opinion is a little biased.
