Nice work so far! I also noticed that the level select music is "Die in a Fire" by the Living Tombstone, one of his FNaF songs. Nice touch!!!

This has a homing attack in it... not a good sign.., You might want to explain where you got that from, and fast, because the most likely answer is that it's stolen code 0.e

EDIT: Also, I played through Labyrinth Zone because I enjoy playing that level, and when I reached the end, the game locked up; I hit the animal box, ran off to the side, and then nothing happened; I had to restart.

Why, why did you use that song for the level select? I just, I can't take it.

Speaking of which, you have made some odd audio choices. But other than that it's a solid hack.

Oh, very nice hack! Some of your layout design ideas looks really unique. Your Spring Yard looks really enjoyable and fun. I really loved this. I like the way the HUD goes out and the "HAS PASSED" text goes up when the other text comes to the screen. I just think that you can improve your palettes a bit. Nice job.

It may have the homing attack but that doesn't necessarily mean that it was stolen. now depending on how it looks when I actually get around trying this out, then it will be different.

getting to the point of the screenshots, looks interesting enough, though that level select screen looks a bit like the character select screen from the s factor - sonia and silver, just edited:

not trying to bash or nothing but something I just noticed.

Edit: As I thought, the homing attack wasn't stolen. looking from the screens, and just now from playing act 1 of the first level, he used the S1HS [Sonic 1 Hacking Studio] for most of the moves as the pallet for sonic if anyone has ever used S1HS before is a dead give away.

I just wanted to make sure; stolen or not, it needs to be clarified outright; if it's stolen, it needs to be removed, but if it's made from scratch, or taken from someone who gave permission, then that's an honest effort that deserves commendation. Either way, an appropriate strong reaction is needed. Also, past experience (most from surfing the trash and showroom forums old posts) leans toward it being stolen, so I felt it needed to be brought up.

Stolen or not the homing attack is still rubbish. I played some of this, the level designs seem okay for the most part, one part that caught my eye was in the Star Light zone (Forgot what it's name is in this hack) where if you don't have enough speed you can't get up a slope because of platforms placed in the wall for some reason.

Back to the homing attack - it doesn't really add anything to the hack, it's just there and easy to spam. It's completely unneeded, stolen or not.

The homing attack is Selbi's. Looks little like the common leaked one I have, if that means anything.

EDIT: False alarm. I recognised Selbi's jump dash code, but the leaked homing attack I recognised was Sonic Eggland's.

I'll admit, I wasn't expecting much, but it turns out that it was pretty good (for the first zone anyway). I like Sonic's Homing Attack, the double jump which makes him vulnerable and the PINGAS as the SEGA screen made me chuckle. I also like the sound effects and the palette, butI wish there was custom art and not just a palette swap. Although some of the level design didn't flow properly (see spoiler) and there's some really dick moves.. Lets go over them.

    Dream Island

    Act 2

Dick Move 1: If you go on the spring, you break the walls, but then your headed for the robot fishes (pardon my lack of knowledge).

Dick Move 2: Falling platforms + Spikes.

    Act 3

Dick Move 3: Straight line leading to a pit. Greaaat.

Dick Move 4: Boss that relies on death pits to make it harder. It can be good in some cases but here, you don't have much room to stand on.

That's all for the first zone, and I quit, but good look on taking this advice to make your hack better!

You could've just posted this is your previous thread instead of making another one you know. Doesn't really make sense to make a whole new one for just a couple of bug fixes. that practically defeats the purpose of having an official thread about your hack. now as from the last thread and me taking the time to play this, Ultima pretty much said what I was going to say, mostly for act 3 in this case. while most of the layouts for both act 1 and 2 were decent, act 3 however after that I just stopped due to like I said the last time, the boss is pretty much impossible to beat. none much else to say other than to try to put more effort when in comes to boss layouts if you plan on editing any of the other ones, and also try to take your time in making this.

Edit: Did'nt notice that it was someone else posting about this. Still though, it doesn't change the fact that you could've posted this in the other thread seeing as you also had a part in making this hack too.

I thought that homing attack guide was taken down a while ago.

I've merged the topics together. I don't see any reason for there to be two topics for the same hack, just for the sake of a few bug fixes.

No. Just... No. My (and Deoxyskyogre's) hack never had any stolen code. We did all the stuff. Sonic Eggland also never had the Homing Attack in the prior releases and the only version which had it used it also had the same Selbi's homing attack. Selbi certainly know this because he may remember the times I asked him for his homing attack code. And if we'd want to use it in the future, we should program our own homing attack code because we already have the necessary knowledge to work easily with the calcsine routines which are mostly used to calculate everything about how the homing attack works. My team never used stolen stuff and if I know that any of my team members use stolen stuff someday I'll kick their butts out of my team, because I'm completely against the use of other people's effort which is taken withouth asking the author first. I always preferred to use other people's stuff only with their full conception and approval. (But maybe the Eggland hack had used the stolen homing attack before I knew about its existence. I don't remember too much about it because this hack existed for years.)

Anyway, please check the things out before saying something so dangerous.

Tried out the first few zones and my opinion on the game isn't too much different from before. The "Agh!" that Sonic has when he gets hit is a nice touch. I do like the level design 90% of the time although it is flawed on occasion. The lack of breathing room to react to something is still a problem in this game at times. Otherwise I do like the Homing Attack and Spin Dash. Sonic's very controllable and that's one of the main things I look at with gameplay.

Looking forward to seeing further improvements on this but you definitely have me interested!

I think you completely misinterpreted what Clownacy tried to say. This hack here, "Sonic 1: Back in Time", has your homing attack code in it. Or at least, that's what's being assumed.

Maybe it's not good from my side to say that second time but anyway, I feel like SSRG folks should know... I was the one who SMPS'ed "Die in a Fire" song.

If you think that this VGM file don't prove it, you can give request MIDI, voice bank, DAC set (blueprints) for mid2smps, and even FL Studio project where I was transcribing that song to give more evidences.
