SMPS Comp. Title?

Is there any possible way that I could get an SMPS Comp. title to show that I am the moderator of the subforum? This would be in place of "Member".

 

I don't really see a reason why you need one? Usually a hassle to set one up, and then there's other nitpicks and annoyances to deal with, and I really don't see a benefit in it. That's not to say I'm not open to arguments otherwise, but I'm really not seeing a solid basis for it.

And before you point out my and Markey's banners, mine is an ongoing experiment, dating back to when we were setting up the board software and prepping for migration, regarding how far the banners can be manipulated. What you see is the end result of stuff I've been tampering with for awhile on a test board theme. Markey's is because, well, he *is* the resident jester. And I already had a banner sitting around set up for testing reasons, so it was just a couple of edits. Exceptions are just that: Exceptions. I felt there was enough behind it for me to bother with the effort, while this one, I'm not seeing it immediately.

 

Fair enough, though I assumed people thought that I was just a member that happened to post a few threads on upcoming rounds. I just thought it would let people know that I am moderator of that subforum and that they can come to me for any situations regarding the SMPS Comp.

 

Hrm, there's probably some better ways for you to show that you're indeed running the show without resorting to a banner. Try messing with some profile stuff a bit. Maybe I'll make an official note or something on the competition forum.

 

You could just change the text under you're profile (which you've already done). Or you can put a note in your signature? Otherwise, there isn't another way to my knowledge.

I never had a custom profile banner, and I never felt the need for it, then again the fact that I started the whole thing maybe helped in my favour, therefore I can see where he is coming from with his request. Also because you wouldn't expect someone who joined only one year ago to be in charge of something important, whereas my forum history goes back to more than a decade and a half ago (not implying that I'm popular or something, and even as controversial as I am (many people still hate me), my name is definitely more known than his one, plus I was at least a Pro User when I started the whole thing, and later even a full blown moderator for a while).

Maybe deleting the pinned topics posted by me and replacing them with equivalent versions posted by him would help to sort things out, if just a bit. From the outside, opening that subforum and seeing the majority of topics still being started by me probably adds to the confusion as well. I'd advise against creating an "archive" or "past rounds" sub-subforum, though.

Not trying to put my nose into matters which are best dealt with by the staff, though as former host of the competition I thought I'd share my opinions.

 

If I didn't start the Sonic 1 Telephone hack I wouldn't have replied to this thread.
If there was gonna be a SMPS competition leader rank then I would have asked for a Telephone hack rank. What I mean is that there don't have to be a rank for everything. Even when I got the Telephone Projects tab fixed. There is some questions I do have concidering this however. Is there a way to actually have a subrank? (A secondary rank for special members) or Just leave it as it is with doing what Nineko said above.

 

Or just allow anyone to upload any banner image they want.

No but seriously, I think its a valid concern, and we did have the thing with someone posting topics whilst the actual round was running. Given its not possible anymore (I am assuming), it is not anything critical. Maybe having green coloured text in the description would grab the users attention, as green is often the colour associated with moderators anyway.

 

You do *not* want to see what that would require to make happen...

Seriously, though, I put a note on the SMPS Competition forum that you're the current curator, so if they don't get the point after that, it's kinda their fault.
