So recently I've been viewing through the trash and there are a lot of posts by guests. Can anyone explain me how do guests get to post?

Pretty sure it's some old thing with IPB. Why is this even a thread.

Considering users like Rydia were "Lurkers" before the move to Xeno, and are now in the "guest" group, I would say it's a safe bet to assume so.

As I understand it, this was broken behavior on IPB 4.x, where from IPB 3.x to 4.x we lost some posts; they got disconnected from the accounts or were just broken somehow, as well as the Xenforo migration, further posts were broken due to either IPB 4 behavior or glitchy migration from IPB 3.x to 4.x, posts were not correctly laid out in the database, they were missing some information or even in few cases the host accounts got broken and they had to be reconstructed. Some posts that were not important (such as posts from thrash) were not fixed and just left broken.

Guest accounts are accounts that no longer exist. They were either deleted for some reason or they were eaten during one of the upgrades. Some older posts exhibit this, primarily from Rydia and Ivy. In general, though, it's very rare to see a guest past 2013 or so.

'Tis fine to ask questions like this. It's something that people probably would like to know. Don't give them a hard time.

Thank's LazloPsylus. Sorry if I'm a bit to curious right now but how did you go to the Railgun, Recharged group and how do you have infinity posts? Just a bonus question about SonicRetro. What is the misfit group? It's because tweaker is in the misfit group and he used to be the admin of the site.

The answer is simple. He's one of the admins on this site.

I'm feeling nice, so I'll waive the usual rhetoric and answer.

I'm an admin brought onto the team back in October/November due to IPS4 issues that eventually led to the migration to XenForo, which we are running on now. The group and infinite posts are simply because I got bored while working behind the scenes and coded them in. As for Retro's Misfit group, they're the banned group for Retro. Exile would be the equivalent here, though we're more lenient with Exile in that we do allow Exiles to plead their case.

Anyway, this thread has completed its purpose and more, so it's time to close it up...
