Guess this explains why you were testing how the mode 7 feature works. In any case this looks great. Knowing that this is going to be a board game, do you plan on adding some form of multiplayer to this?

You'll have to wait and see for yourself~

As for the dark colour, I have three different monitors which output different colours, the screen I was using to pixelate this showed one grade up and it looked identical to the other blues, the irony is, it was my laptop screen (of which has no colour adjustment features). I'll change it later on...

I was actually planning a sort of "Mario Party" thing, I hope that won't discourage you from playing though~

As for the light blue around the edges, again, same problem as above, on one monitor they looked fine, on another they look a little wrong. I put the effort to put the blue lines in, so I'm not removing them unless absolutely necessary, sorry.
Ironically no! I did it by hand and eye, unfortunately, I have a knack for making things look like they were done by tools...

I have never once tested how the "mode 7 feature" works, this is all software rendered on the Mega Drive via my own code, on its own without additional hardware, i.e. no Mega CD. >=(

I have a question. Since the foreground (the mode 7-like part) will always be below the background, would you be able to make the background and foreground use completely different palettes using the same line interrupt method that's used for water? Since the characters and objects could be anywhere on the screen, I assume their palette lines would have to remain the same for both parts of the screen, but the palette lines used for the foreground and background could differ. Would doing this be too much for the console to handle?

Also, this being like Mario Party, how many minigames are you planning to put in?

My apologizes. I didn't mean it in the sense in trying to offend you if it seemed like it. I only assumed from what was shown awhile back, Though it's my fault for not the reading the title properly.

I'm sorry, I wasn't offended at all. I just thought that you thought this was running on a Mega CD or something, and wanted to provide some shock value by putting in some heavy comical angry emoticon symbols, if I were really offended, I wouldn't have used such emoticons. A bit like my response to Clownacy in the other thread, it was nothing but a comical emoticon.

I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, I appreciate that you're following my work enough to remember details.

I think it looks pretty good, the blocks with those diagonal lines makes it look all glossy and shiny.

    Well done!

I haven't worked on much since the last time I posted, but I'm starting to put some progress in Desert Dazzle Zone. Right now I just added some new art to make this level seem less bland. That art being some rug/flag things that are on the floors and attached to the wooden platforms, as well as wanted signs. Now this is starting to look even more like a Mirage Saloon rip off.

(also yes I know it's still too bright and that there's some transparency issues, I'll get to that later when I have all the art is done)

That seems way to claustrophobic for my tastes. Look at how much space there is for Sonic to move around in in the classic games (or pretty much any 2D Sonic game). Having a smaller space means less freedom and is more for a Mario game than a Sonic game. However, I like the new art.

@UnlimitedTrees - The art looks good, but for the left bottom part of background; it's hard for me to tell if it's either part of FG or BG.

This is new title screen for my hack. Simple but original.

A lot of slopes were added in GHZ and SYZ.

Okay, first things first, that title screen looks bad. It's imported badly, has no background and overall doesn't look good.

SYZ slopes don't look good at all, you'll be better off generating them with rotsprite or something like that.
Oh, and I'd also want to say that in the last release the wood zone's art lacked variety (almost no decorations, no tiles, anything!) C'mon, you can do better!

I quite like what did you do to GHZ tho. It's the best zone in the hack so far.

Alright, the title screen doesn't necessarily look bad. It's just that it looks pixelated because you just scaled it up in Paint or in another program. The idea is good, just... refine it. I can help you myself if you want to.

I agree with Cat. It's good that you took into account what I had said months ago about the slopes. I'd either take Cat's way (Rotsprite) or a method I found out to make slopes not too long ago, that is, lifting pixels of fractions of the normal block. If I didn't explain myself well, tell me.

GHZ looks badass. Damn, looks like I will have a blast playing it. It's nice to see splats in there too, by the way!

Could you brighten up GHZ? That would make it much more pleasant to look at. The best program for importing planes from images is GetArt.net. I used it for the prelevel screen in Sonic Next Genesis. Those slopes in SYZ have the yellow under them removed to keep the art consistent. The logs under the slopes look like scribbles despite how they're circles that should look almost exactly the same when rotated. The title screen should have a background added to it.

Edit: The use of "Ultimate" at the end of a title seems to me to be overused and makes the already sort of bland title even blander. I don't understand why an ugly shade of blue is being used as a shade of green on the title screen. I hope a background is added to the title screen.

This is a very early prototype of Espio the chameleon boss for my PC sonic fan-game.

Nice. One thing I suggest replacing is the crab that you run into in the trailer.
