My bad, then. I figured he was at least involved in some way because of the very distinctive art style.

You both did fantastic work however, and I'm looking forward to seeing what this project has to offer.

Not much to me, to be honest. I did the original art, but all the artistic part was made by the talent of @Mr. Cat . He practically transformed my art into a completely new thing making it look very different. Added extra details and etc. Thanks for appreciate our effort, though.

Simple, but funny. This thing makes me laugh for some reason. It looks good, though it seems kind of misaligned horizontally for me, or maybe it's just my impression.

I've done a "Beta 8" remake so far, and now I gotta make the Nick Arcade Beta Remake.

I left the Mania mod project I was working on to start on a new project.

This is just a Marble Background change so far aswell as hud which uses a placeholder DTC hud art by DevEd.

I'm getting very excited for this hack. I'm really impressed with how your ASM skills are allowing you to do much better things this time. I really would like to comment specifically about what the video shows, but I see a very big number of improvements and new stuff in your hack and this is making me really wanting to see more and more. You're improving a lot and this impresses me every new video that you post. This is a signal that you're listening to the previous feedback about the ways of improving your hack. I hope I be able to be good with ASM one day too. Congratulations and keep up improving!

CaveQuest... don't take me bad but, in my honest opinion, you need focus. This isn't the first nor the second time I see you closing a project to work in a new one, so you close the new project to work in the previous one then you think in a new project and start it, so you begin having a lot of projects and absolutely no progress in all of them. Please I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but you need focus. Start a project, work on it until the end, then improve it according to the people's feedback and according to how you think you can improve it too. I like your ideas, they're very good in tendence and in promise, but they never get along with the community because you don't apply them well and it's all because you don't focuse in a project. You want to make too much projects and when you keep in only one, you want to finish it fast. This is wrong in my opinion and I think sincerely that you need to reflect about it.

This is an update video for my hack, Sonic 1 Contemporary. This video shows off Super Sonic, level design tweaks for Sonic's moveset, and Green Hill's dynamic palettes and music.

Unfortunately the instruments seems wrong pitched in the act 2 music and you could have choosen better instruments for the act 3 song. This hack is making me remember my hack Sonic 1 Harder Levels when it was in its time of glory. I like the palettes and I like how Sonic can perform wall jump into objects, though.

Work In Progress (started editing SBZ after revamping/changing previously edited stuff in recent months). Because main focus of my project is silhouette, unedited BG would bring some trouble with visibility and gameplay overall (lower half of BG) - so it gave me idea of inverting it. I'm not sure about this BG palette edit tho (I feel it's too dark, but maybe it's just me).

That dark palette seems like it would make the level near unplayable without turning your TV/Monitor brightness up. It does give me a great idea to make the level more atmospheric though; whenever a flamethrower or electrical hazard starts up, you could temporarily illuminate the level! That way, you could use those hazards to help navigate.

And I actually really like Act 3s music. Like a lot; it almost reminds me of Manias' GHZ act 2, it gives me similar fuzzy feelings :3 I will admit that act 2 sounds like it could use some work though.

EDIT: Dang it, now act 2 is starting to grow on me X3 The only thing I can really say for sure needs some work is the intro section to act 3s' music.

EDIT2: Now I like that too  I guess nostalgia goggles are making it hard for me to judge the music objectively...

I assume you started talking about my hack halfway through there, Pacguy. Thanks for the feedback.

@EMK-20218, The pitch isn't "wrong" in Act 2, the song is shifted in the key of D major instead of C major, so it the whole song sounds lighter and softer, just like the palette. I know some S3&K hacks have given key changes a bad stigma, but S3&K itself as well as the Advance series used key changes quite effectively in the different act mixes. Part of what makes this particular instance sound "wrong" though, is the fact that Act 3's music goes back to the original key. Should I consider changing Act 3's key as well? and what instrument changes do you think would be effective for Act 3?

This is quite reminiscent of ReadySonic. I'm not going to bash you for it, but I am going to point out that your best interest will be to credit either the project, or Mercury, for the special programming work here. As for the stuff that is not from this package, I see that you've added in new tile art and alternative-pitch tracks for each act. This is a nice touch, and a great start. As said by EMK, I would tweak act 2's pitches a little, but otherwise, this is going in the right direction. Looking forward to where this goes!

EDIT: To specify, the high notes in Act 2's track tend to be rather sour. If you can manually touch them up just a little, it'll keep the 'relaxing' tone you're after, rather than the little screeches it tends to leave from being seemingly untouched.

Not feeling like posting it on Retro, and some of you have probably seen my post by now, but in the case not: https://twitter.com/sewer56lol/status/998775144347852800

File redirections, other stuff on emulators, as my Mod Loader now has full 64bit support, and all that fun jazz.
Not the kind of post you'd expect on SSRG so I'm here to catch you offguard :eyes:.

As I said over on Youtube, Mercury is credited on the hack's main page, the video was just to show the progress I had made on the hack recently :)

After months of work, I'm proud to present...

Sonic the Hedgehog Neo Quest: First official zone reveal!
    Enjoy, ladies and gents.

    Floral Fields Zone Act 3

Molten Metro Zone Act 1 HEAVY WORK IN PROGRESS (Fun fact: A-S-H suggested the name)

    To be revealed soon?

Criticism that isn't total bashing accepted!

Quick edit: I messed up some formatting. I don't know how to fix "IMG." Sorry for my incompetence. :/

NOTE: Molten Metro's BG art does have some tiles from Sonic CD art test, this is because it's pretty hard to copy from a spritesheet. Just letting you know. (I try.)

Update: Wow, this got a really positive response, thanks to everyone who appreciates this! I'll keep working on it.

Looks pretty good to me! Molten Metro reminds me of Pollutant Plant from Robotnik Returns 1, but it actually looks good :p

Really? I didn't expect people to like the old versions so much. I guess I'll have to add them into a playlist option.
