Can you post the exact error message? It might help us understand the problem better. Hacking CulT's ASM guide is pretty good and quite detailed - you should read that and see if you can understand it.

Oh lol. Try Hacking CulT's guide then, it's quite easy to understand.

Did you try getting the one from Sonic Retro? Go with the Aurochs one if you are a beginner in ASM. If you want to do levels too, then you need to make your own .sep files, or copy the ones that come with SonEd 2 and edit them, but ALWAYS keep a backup.

    Here.

    Use RHS's Guide.

I read RHS's guide over twice and I think it is one hell of a guide. I am pretty good now just from reading it. I know exactly what all the commands do and all sorts.

That's how good my guide is, I didn't even put all the commands in and he's learnt all of them =P

I'd use RHS's guide, but it calls for Sonic 2 and I want to hack Sonic 1

I found it to be pretty easy, but meh

The commands are the same, you know [IMG] The locations and stuff like the SST of course differ, but Hive's disassembly is very well-labeled, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

There should be a guide on Sonic Retro that can help you. It has a table that has all the Sonic 2 labels and the exact same in Sonic 1.

Hive's disassembly is so well labeled I doubt he'd ever need that guide. That guide is helpful for Sonic 2 coders, because ObjectFall, KillSonic etc. are sure a hell of a lot easier to understand than sub_16380, loc_3F926, etc.
