Cartridge\ROM Modification for Increased Sound Channels on Genesis\Megadrive

    The Sega 32X came with soundchip add - ons for the YM2612. Do you guys think a regular Genesis\Megadrive cartridge could come with such an add - on also?


    With our more minuscule technology nowadays, would we be able to fit more channels into one game cartridge than just an extra FM Channel\DAC Channel like the 32X?


    That, and do you guys think Genesis ROMs would change drastically due to this?


    Just asking out of curiosity. Thank you, though.

    Yes, the same would apply to graphics.

    The Prime Example of that is the Genesis Version of Virtua Racing.


    That There's only one or two games with enhancment chips for the standard MD means it was either not worth it, or much more harder than on Nintendo's Consoles (the mappers on the NES, and chips like the C4 and the S-FX I and II on the SNES)
